Back in early July we
wrote that contrary to expectations, veteran Middle Eastern aircraft carrier CVN-74 Stennis would end its shore leave far earlier than expected, and be redeployed back to its usual stomping grounds just off Iran months ahead of schedule. As of days ago, the Stennis has quietly departed Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton and is off. It will join CVN-65 Enterprise (which is doing its last tour of duty ever before being decommissioned) and CVN-69 Eisenhower in the Arabian Sea, aka off the coast of Iran. This will be one of the only times in history when the US has had three aircraft carriers in close proximity to those evil Iranians who are hell bent on global domination. Expect Stennis to reach Iran (and be available to support an Israeli attack of Iran) in the last third week of September. Then determine when the next full/new moon is following the arrival of Stennis at its destination, and buy Brent calls just ahead. Finally,
profit.
From
Kitsap Sun:
The USS John C. Stennis, with more than 2,000 sailors aboard, left Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton on Monday to begin what's expected to be an eight-month deployment. The Stennis has only been home since March 2, when it returned from a seven-month deployment in the Middle East. But with tensions remaining high in that region, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta ordered the aircraft carrier back out to sea. The carrier had not been scheduled to deploy until January.
CVN-74 departs on its way to CVN-65 and CVN-69.
Just an FYI....

ReplyDeleteWe must get a correction in the direction of our economy. It will take a majority of the world's economic powers to participate in an all out conflict to achieve this objective. The majority of the spoils will go to the perceived victor. In reality, the spoils will go to the major banks, but that won't be quite as visible. There will be many good breeding opportunities for rich executive types as the population of genetically superior males will be substantially reduced.
ReplyDeleteTD, what say you about a link like this http://www.dailypaul.com/199701/why-we-the-us-is-going-to-war-with-iran
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion their is some merit to the theory. Some would say it is a conspiracy but the only way that the US (The Fed) has the ability to churn out unlimited monopoly money for the benefit of erasing federal debt and supporting the unsupportable defense and entitlement structure is for the US Dollar to continue as the world reserve. The big problem it has is that more and more countries are doing 'private' bilateral exchanges.... but that won't stop the machine from attacking who it can to keep the dollar relevant. This is the big flaw I have with Nohelp's MMT. The instant you need to take your currency outside of your country, and it has no support..... your money is worthless.
DeleteObjectively TS, our sheer level of debt, IMO, has done far less damage to our currency then the petty infighting. Banks tend to keep lending money to people as long as they pay their bills and when we had that ridiculous debt ceiling fight, I think it made people around the world start to have the real concern that nut jobs in this country would just say, "Screw it, I'm not paying back money that someone else borrowed".
DeleteI still believe that the two main things that keep our currency strong is our legal structure and more importantly, the size of our military. We've nearly destroyed the first one, but not the second.
Max, hope you are well and in good health.
DeleteWhat that link pretends to know is just that, it pretends to know. No one really knows what is going to happen, each player is too unpredictable. Iran? Israel? U.S.? Russia?
Hmmm... Russia.. supplying Syria with weapons and has a hand in every country in the region, Except Israel. I think Russia is the major player in the region and would profit greatly from an attack of any kind. All the leaders in the region except one buy weapons from Russia
Look at Russia to be the source of the war, not Israel.
Doing well TD, and I hope the same for you and your family. The unfortunate thing is that while Syria is supplying weapons to Russia, we are doing the same and more with Israel. This is not to say the Israeli's are not an industries lot, and that they are not a formidable force with or without our help. Still, we undeniably tilt the ME in their favor.
DeleteThe whole issue of proxy wars to me is disturbing. I don't think you need to be a full Buddhist to ponder the concept of Karma and cause/effect. The bottom line is that our interest in the middle east is oil and the waterways it flows on to leave the middle east. To keep it flowing and keep it shipping, we pit a lot of players against each other. When it served us, we backed Saddam. We sell weapons and aircraft to the Saudis. We sell weapons to the Israeli's and give them money to make or buy what we don't sell them.
In the course of protecting our interests, we cause grief to others. This is not entirely preventable, but I am for limiting it as best we can. You could be right about Russia, but strategically, I think they would continue to benefit from the pitting of powers there against each other just like we do. IN a full scale war, a lot of people there will lose.
