Did You Just Feel A Chill?

I'm not sure what that was.  It felt like a ghost just breezed through the room.  I'm not one to put much stock in such things as ghosts - maybe it was just me looking at history and knowing it's odd penchant for repeating itself.  We are in the midst of a financial crisis and there doesn't look like there is a reasonable way out of it almost like it was in the '30's.  Money is being created and given to the banks to help them clear out some bad decisions that they lobbied for in our congress and taken great advantage of in the real world.  There are plenty more bad decisions lurking out there which could cause more great financial meltdowns in the future.  I have seen the vision of the way out of all of these problems.  We have been conditioned to dislike a certain group of people.  These folks are just plain folks, but they look different than most of us.  They pray different than us.  They have been removed from a lot of the goings on in the world and they have been conditioned to dislike us too.  Could there be a better situation for a group of wealthy people who benefit from selling arms or loaning money for rebuilding efforts than this?  It is almost as if all of this was planned out.  Maybe the chill in here is from the vision of all of that cold hard cash that I'm seeing being made in the near future.

  2. Read the above from stormy three hours ago and the reply from Roj ten minutes past.
It is a persuasive piece of prose stormy and needed serious consideration to formulate a reply.
I think the feeling of foreboding is probably universal outside the Asiatic and Muslim worlds, they have differing philosophies to westerners. Seems to me that our western world is in a mess of its own making and that rather than one nation being on the hook to others, all are on the hook to each other and no one can afford to start rolling back the carpet of debit. Stormy with his use of military might to finance then rebuild the ruins could well eventuate.
Remember the Rothschild’s bank which financed the Anglo French war which culminated in Waterloo. The real winner there was the Bank. Could be Stormy, could be, and the picture is grim should it happen.
I have no crystal ball but I have my imagination and as I sit here I dream of some of the greats from your early years to fill the positions so sorely needed/

Hamilton to have Treasury again Jefferson to have the State Department .Old Ben Franklin to go back to sort out Europe and send John Quincy as his off snider. Andrew Jackson for President as he at least is the only President in your history to repay the National debit. The military will not be needed but Washington as CINC just in case. Who then for President of the Federal Reserve Bank? I expect dissent in this nomination but I would have a donkey, the institution has been an ass ever since Woodrow Wilson established the thing.
Time to wake up now, I hear my wife hollering from the kitchen; she has either fallen over or made coffee, the two seem to alternate nowadays.

    1. Kingston,

If you like conspiracy theories: "The Creature From Jekyll Island". Somewhat old book, but a friend lent me her copy. Mayer Amschel Rothschild was mentioned in it. A regular pillar of the community, Herr Rotschild was.

Honor your better half, sir. :-)

      My thanks for the reply.
To flesh out the financial effect on the Napoleonic Wars, it was the Son Nathan who was the driving force here. The family of course then became the first Jewish members of the British parliament.
By the way;” Honor your better half.sir". Not sure about the meaning here; however after 52 years in double harness we do get a little casual. I showed her the reply and her response was to laugh and point out what she considered a spelling mistake! I shall be more charitable and allow that Americans spell Honour differently to Australians.
      Cheers now from Aussie

  3. It is the clash of cultures-------and they could not be more different at once and then more alike too.

In Muslim countries the religion of Islam is not only a religion. It is the government, the politics, the social practices, family traditions, the education-----in other words-----it is a lot more than just a religion.

There are no "Christian" countries-------we strive to keep government and religion separate.

In both Islam, and Christianity, there are some schitzoid attributes and differences . Islam has many different sects, believers are not all the same kind of Muslim. The same is true for Christianity----------many sects reflecting the cultism of the believer.

Both Islam and Christianity, as well as Judaism, are Abrahamic religions having grown from the same tribal foundation. As a part of the family of man they have animosity toward one another. That animosity has become an ill wind blowing chills across the planet hurling and heaving humankind beyond its ability to understand, let alone control. It is a force all its own which we try to dodge, or hide from, but not regulate or even predict.

We are severely limited by the very nature of being human and limited as contingent beings subject to that which is non-contingent. The chill you feel, that we all feel, is the knowledge of good and evil---- when, of our own free will, chose evil.

  4. BTW Stormy-------------I have known "ghosts" for as long as I can remember. They will prepare us if we listen----we can listen only if we empty ourselves of the small, petty, menial aspects of our physical selves and become open to the message as we cross the bridge from here to there----------------

  5. How bad is this QE3? Prior to it's announcement, many had been expecting to dollar and euro to go to parity. Instead that Euro has shot up to nearly 1.32 dollars. This is excellent news for rich people and bank stocks as it will push assets and commodities higher. It's really bad news for the middle class as it will push food, housing higher.

    1. As the controllers of our money continue to do things which devalue our currency and deny the small savers the ability to make any return on their meager investments, the class warfare themes will continue to surface. I believe that a revolution will be averted by our attentions being focused on activities outside of our country.

    2. Stormy and Carol

Is this approach (activities outside our country) not consistent with the Teddy Roosevelt corollary to the Monroe Doctrine?
Are you perhaps considering investments in other countries in order to protect your capital and or savings? When in business I used to happily keep a reserve of US currency offshore as protection against fluctuation in exchange rates. Unfortunately I could not countenance such action today as I perceive your currency to be somewhat unstable. You may however consider the interest rates available herein the big 4 banks. All are safe and 4.75% is readily available for term deposits.

  6. Our entire economic situation in this country, and globally, is just too complex for those in a position of leadership to actually DO anything to bring it to rights.

  7. Nice excuse Carol. To complex to fix.

    LOL.

One problem at a time. Begin by paying attention to the US instead of all the countries feeding at the US trough.

  8. There are random events in our world which change the course of history. There are others which are planned. How much of history is driven by greed? It would be very interesting to see what is programmed into the brains of the youth of the future.

  9. Stormy.
History you ask, I must have a try at this one.
Greed is a great driver but it is a small part when compared to ego. Ego is only one step removed from insanity so try these. Mad King George in 1776. Caligula in Rome (mad and Bad) Hitler driven bad by reparations following WW1 but perhaps he was always egotistically mad! Joe Stalin paranoid ideology and greed having seen how the west was rich and he was poor. Nixon, so greedy he would eat himself. Agnew who was so corrupt he would help Nixon eat himself. Kingston mad as hell that many of these people affected his life!.
