The Republican National Convention ejected two attendees for throwing peanuts at a Black CNN camerawoman and saying, "that is how we feed the animals."
Police immediately removed the two attendees, and officials with the Republican National Convention quickly distanced themselves from the incident.
"Two attendees tonight exhibited deplorable behavior," the statement read. "Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated."
The incident was witnessed by several media members, including MSNBC and Current Host David Shuster. Shuster tweeted about the incident.
wouldn't be the first time Dems posed as Republicans to make them look bad. In fact, it appears that the Obama is leading by example. http://dailycaller.com/2012/08/25/two-in-republican-women-for-obama-ad-exposed-as-democrats/
let's not forget the slimey accusations that tea partiers spit on John Lewis and called him a horrible name. Despite a hundred thousand dollar reward and video footage it was never proven. In fact, Lewis himself never acknowledge that it happened.
Two people acted the ass and were arrested... was it wrong... yes... were they arrested ... yes....
Your subject titles through you into the very unsavory crowd of 'Sensationalist Reporter'.....
And I am really upset that the story you posted showed a picture of the Texas delegation as if it were one of them.... scandalous sensationalism OMG!
Native Texan and Proud ! Now you know where I am from and that should be enough to set off a firestorm of comments and indignant remarks .... but remember. You don't know the whole story and the devil is in the detail.
"witnessed by several media members, including MSNBC and Current Host David Shuster." Imagine that! And just where were the other 5000 press members? hmmm ...
"A recent poll found zero per cent support for Mitt Romney among African-Americans compared to 94 per cent for President Barack Obama." Goooolly, Sarge! Imagine that! Whoddah thunk such a number would come from a poll in the deepest part of S Chicago? I'm curious as to what the other 6% think, thunked.
What frequency does a Mitch McConnell speech have to be ringing inside your head for even the most racially obsessed Caucasian NBC anchorman to hear the words "PGA tour" as "deep-rooted white insecurities about black male sexuality"? That's way beyond dog-whistling, and somewhere between barking mad and frothing rabid.
I know a number of hard working black men and women. Until recently, none talked about the 2012 election. Now some are and I didn't even bring up the conversation. They KNOW that four more years of Obama would be economic suicide for them, their children and grandchildren. They know that our health care system will deteriorate. They know that race relations are MUCH worse now after four years of Obama and his intentional misuse of race in our society.
Some are still convinced that the U.S. has an unlimited supply of money and that the Republican's are just fear mongering. They say the Fed can just print more money and that hyper-inflation is an impossibility.
Lest we forget most of the derogatory comments against Love are coming from pink people Democrats, or are they liberals, or are they racially tolerant progressives... hard to tell the difference anymore.
Livestrongest: What about the photos of Tea Partiers carrying posters showing The President of The United States as a monkey? Was I just imagining that?
"Put a Democrat in the Whitehouse.... Impeach Obama"
Your point Mick, is well taken and many of the demonstration posters are beyond critical of the performance of the person in office. While I understand the anger at his performance and the fear of just how bad a person he potentially is, those kinds of signs do not help America figure out how to work together. Some of the signs on this site are deplorable and some are filled with the anger and fear of people who distrust our current president immensely.
LS, do you live in the south? Racism is alive and well and some direct incident shows up daily--------it is inescapable. It is deeper under the surface because those who are racist don't want to be exposed. They whisper to one another in the dark place they live---------just waiting.
simple demographics factually state the racial makeup of each party. People can spin it any way that pleases them, but the facts cannot be negated. White people are becoming and will continue to become a shrinking group in the population. I think this terrifies many of them. Regardless, this trend is not going to reverse.
As a 40 something white person who currently has a good job and decent looking prospects going forward, I don't live in terror that some drastic redistribution of my wealth to poor non white people. What I do live in fear of is that is that we are going to keep swelling the ranks of the poor of all races and that that poverty is going to drive this country down. We keep pretending that we can indefinitely sustain the entire country on a platform wherein only one teeny section of the country reaps enormous gain and essentially just piles that money in some corner where it's power goes dead.
As a white person, I feel it is in my best interest to see black people succeed. I have some very lucky breaks and I have also worked hard. I have also known more then a few people of color who also work hard but for whom no breaks were given. Overbearing affirmative action programs have not solved things, and neither has castigating people of color. Generally, the left and right are very attached to their spin of why black people don't do as well as whites. Both are drastically missing the point and continuing to contribute to failure.
"Generally, the left and right are very attached to their spin of why black people don't do as well as whites. Both are drastically missing the point and continuing to contribute to failure."
Well, from the left, I believe there is a genuine fear of being too critical and fear of being called racist. There have been quite a few good intention programs created by the left to try and help people of color succeed, but I don't think there has really been an on the go assessment over time of those programs to see if they are accomplishing their goals. To be sure, quite a few black and white politicians have done very well peddling solutions that have not panned out.
I am typing this before work and really don't have time to say what I'd like to. This is a very general comment about the left, but I will pick this up again later tonight or tomorrow if you are interested in continuing the discussion.
Neither party has a lock on an inability to never admit they are wrong, or that some particularly cherished belief simply doesn't match what happens in reality. To me, the left's inability to denounce bullshit, whether their own or someone else's, has destroyed their credibility and in turn, further destroyed future chances of calling bullshit. It's a feedback loop. Because of this, the left can neither denounce the fantasy bullshit that black people don't want to work hard, nor can they challenge people of color in their caucuses to begin holding black leaders accountable for not demanding better of the people they lead.
So, they throw money at it. Some programs work, some do not. When a program doesn't work, some Republican hack is waiting there to endlessly and publicly slap them in the face with their failure. Because they have no credibility, they stand there and take it and walk away with their tail between their legs. This helps no one and perpetuates the problem.
As for the right, well, nothing has really changed in decades. They were against civil rights in the 60's and are still vehemently opposed to any attempt to challenge the ingrained belief that white people are simply better then black people in every way. As a note, I don't believe the younger tea party types think this way. However, that is not who controls the Republican party. At the very top are older white dudes who are becoming painfully aware that their days are numbered and they are becoming out numbered by minorities.
I believe they are concerned only with what the believe they stand to lose. They don't see win/win, they see zero sum wherein if someone below them does better, it was undeniably at their expense. But it's not just them. For decades, we, as a nation, have tolerated open discrimination against many groups. Women have made less then men for decades for the same job just as black people have made less then white people for the same job. How can we have seen that fact sitting in plain sight and not call bullshit on it and demand different?
To return to my main point, neither really gets it. Neither has any sort of plan, or intention really, of bringing black people into equality and they have succeeded in helping to perpetuate failure. Of course, black people are not without their lack of ownership, but it doesn't change white fail.

Mick, racism and stupidity exists in all demographics, all parties. I condemn any such actions.
DeleteThat being said, the majority of Tea Partiers and Republicans aren't racists and have the best interest of our country at heart.
