Well . . . here's the FN release, just to try and figure this one out: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/08/23/author-bin-laden-raid-insider-account-idd-could-face-legal-trouble/
I guess Fox felt that the book shouldn't have been written at all and that the operation should have been kept secret, so it was payback for them.
But the Obama administration did break precedent and for days on end leaked information on the Navy Seals in a self congratulatory orgy. Probably the author was PO'd about this and writing the book was his payback.
Payback to whom, though. And to whom does 'scummiest' refer? I wasn't sure if that was to Fox for outing the name, or to Bissonette for the book.
My take on Fox releasing the story is, first, that they referred to multiple sources, implying that the word would get out anyway. Now I don't think that should justify releasing the name just to be first. However, it would seem, from the rest of the article, that Fox may have had the intent to release the name because they felt the book should not have contained the information it had. Haven't seen anything on the book contents yet, so I can't really formulate much of an opinion.
The purported leaks from the Obama administration are reprehensible.
if you followed they story shortly after if occurred you would know. But since I don't have time to try and recover the articles I read I will refer you to these

Let me know what you think of the articles
This administration is using the Seals to score brownie points but at whose expense.
ReplyDeleteJean, I think that they are both wrong (BO administration and Fox) for leaking the information that they had.
