Clint Eastwood and the Republicans---------OMG!

So here's another old white dude--------way past his prime--------trying to deliver a message that was humorous, and came off lookin' like one-a Jeff Dunham's dummies.  I mean, good grief, Achmed is more animated that Eastwood came off last night.  I'd have LOVED to see Chris Rock, Bill Cosby, Dick Gregory, or Steve Harvey pull off that routine.  THAT woulda been funny, not pathetic.

The worst part is that in the minds of those who wonder what the heck a Republican is-----the answer was clear.  Out of touch, out of step, out of solutions and------- in general-------- out to lunch.  The primary platform seems to be to just get Prez Obama outta the White House------they ain't got no plan to recover this country.  No plan to improve edumication, no plan to help the environment, no plan to balance the trade deficit, no plan to strengthen the dollar, no plan to improve international diplomatic relations, no jobs plan, no plan to rescue, and save Social Security, and Medicare, no workable, equitable tax plan, no plan to rennovate our dangerously unsafe infrastructure, no plan to make our food supply safer, both meat and produce.  They have no plan for even  minimal health care coverage.

Here is what we DO know about Republican thinking.  Repeal of the ACA, overturn R v W, tax workers while giving the richest a pass (including corporations), continue to pander to big Pharma and heck with Rx prices for the working person, do away with Planned Parenthood.  That would be just peachy since Repubs don't think insurance should pay for contraception. So where do women go for reproductive counseling and support? They also pander to big Insurance, big Banks by allowing them to levy the life out of our own money with ridiculous unjustified fees.

Clint Eastwood threw the drowning Republicans a giant anchor--------I mean hey--------There is no way the Democrats could have come up with such a destructive strategy to destroy a candidate.  The election will not be close, not by a long shot.

  1. Carol....With great interest I have read your list of Repub no plans,so I must ask you,Other than the Complete failure of the Dems last four years of Hopey Changey(which was apparently not much of a plan) What new plans does the "Forward" group have? Other than Tax and Spend and more of the same line of failures.

    1. Hello Rojay-----

First, the past 4 years O has been in the WH, he has been cleaning up after Bush. A fact is a fact.

      That has included:

1.Everything from NCLB in education,The dream act, keeping tuition loan rates low so the student loans could eventually be paid back

2.Placing a new emphasis on sustainable energy sources, and trying to reduce our dependence on oil (I know, I know, he has given big oil a pass and I don't like it one bit)

3.ACA for equitable, if not perfect, healthcare within reach of millions of children who would otherwise have no medical care

      4. To the extent possible, constrained Wall Street and Investment Banks from repeating the hijinx of bankers and the Fed. They are being watched, and while they are still misbehaving and breaking laws, they have to be very careful not to be discovered. (J. Dimon)

      5. Pulled our kids out of Iraq

      6. Begun to pull our kids out of Afghanistan

      7. He has initiated programs for affordable mortgage refis

      8. Libya

      9. bin Laden

      10. TRIED to work with a Republican Congress whose only goal it is to get him OUT. Well, if they haven't had a plan for 4 years, what would make us think they have a plan now? If they get O out of the WH, THEN what do they plan to do?

      11. He has worked toward correcting the decades old trade imbalance with China, including talking about the unfair practice of their government supporting the yen.

A do-nothing Republican administration would finish off this country.

If you do NOT recognize this as a list of accomplishments and insist instead the last 4 years were President Obama's failure, I can't make it any plainer.

Now I ask you for as many things the Repubs plan to do. And spare me, cut taxes,(where and how), get rid of Planned Parenthood, repeal R v W,.

I want a concrete list of positive economic plans R & R have.

    2. Excellent straight from the obama campaign web site.

You did forget some of the most important:
      1. Spent 6 trillion more than collected in taxes. The most by any president in our history.

      2. Helped 5.3 million people get on SSDI as he couldn't get the economy out of the ditch.

      3. A record 23 million American either under or unemployed. Another record.

      4. Helping Social Security go broke faster by cutting the contributions by today's workers.

      5. The least amount of workers working since the 80's.

      6. How about all those people on SNAP. Yes they even advertise for people to get on the program. A real accomplishment.

      7. Keeping 16,000 troops in Iraq, yes Carol, they are still there.

      8. Troops still in Afghanistan.

      9. That prison at the end of Cuba is still open.

      10. Wasted 800 billion on stimulus that failed to stimulate.

      11. Continues to block release of information on fast and furious.

      12. How about that green energy investment like Solyndra, Evergreen Energy, Ener 1? All bankrupt after taking million from the taxpayer. The list is getting longer over 15 companies so far. More close to bankruptcy.

      13. Saving the best for last: As a parting gift he has saddled the nation with another 2.8 trillion debt with Obamamacare. That number is expected to double or triple as all government programs do.

Didn't even have to look the accomplishments up. You hold Barack in such high esteem and as it turns out he is far worse that Bush. Bust he is a Demoncrat and you have to support him as you are one of the sheeple.

    3. As usual the negativity prevails rather than positive, concrete proposals to move our country forward.

What in your list is a positive proposal? What you have outlined is just more Republican drivel. I listed what has been clearly, and measurably, accomplished-------I am asking what the Repubs WILL do that is so different and positive.

    4. Carol,
My response is what those who are not blinded by the magnificence of Obama see. Many of your so called accomplishments are nothing but white wash to convince the masses of the greatness when in fact there was nothing in the last 4 years to brag about.

No matter, if Obama is elected, I'll shutter the business and retire for as long as SS lasts then re-evaluate my position and move on. won't have to worry about Medicare as O has made arrangements to drain 700 billion from the coffers and fund Ocare for a few years. Then you will also join the people without healthcare.

More like monkey's flinging their shit at the zoo, which sums up the depth of Eastwood's empty chair. Criticism and disagreement is one thing. Collectively we have become a nation of assholes who believe our discontent gives us the right to openly disrespect our POTUS. Remember the endless bitching from Republicans when Eastwood did the superbowl ads? Is this the ass kissing he had to do to get back in their graces?

      Pathetic.

    6. Hold on there Carol... your speakin' my language now... and I'm packin'. You know how I said the other day that the fate of the election was sealed?...... Welllll... I'm not so sure. Seems to me that the Democrats have a bit of arogance that could shoot them in the foot. Stop a war, start a way, while telling congress to jump in a lake, take money from the banks and don't indite not one person (no one on the donor list anyway) and stripe Americans of civil rights faster than George Bush could ever imagine..... I know, I know Bush started it right?..... http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2011/12/joe-biden-drafted-the-core-of-the-patriot-act-in-1995-before-the-oklahoma-city-bombing.html

    9. Carol.. In a previous post, you made this comment with regard to the Republican Convention: "I watched the proceedings of the convention with the expectation of purpose, clarity and direction.

      We got NONE of it."

Come on now.... Do you really expect people to believe that?... I think you were just taking notes for 'talking points'... Your not an attack ad producer are you?

      Delete
    10. Hmmmmm-------hadn't thought about the attack ad thingy--------

I saw no clarity, no explanation, no plans coming out of that convention-----now an empty chair has upstaged R & R--------Eastwood was the Dem's dream speaker-----that's what I got from the convention.

I still don't believe I watched it, but I am glad I did.

    11. Carol... I don't know that you can pull much information from conventions. They, in my opinion, finish their only true business in the first day. After the rules adoption and delegate roll call, its all playing to the indoctrinated anyway.... hum, come to think of it, I don't guess you really get any idea what so ever is in store for the country until after the election... by then its too late.

Rachel Madow's face at the end? Priceless!

    1. I don't know that it such an outrageous claim. Obama could have done it but he chose to piss off 5 trillion in US wealth supporting, for the most part, Chinese workers. The problem with our jobs, in its most basic form, is the 'free' trade agreements that work to ship our jobs out of the US. Renegotiate of cancel them and you have the immediate halt of US dollars out of the country. Now, like many other remedies for our current fiscal problems their will be pain. We will no longer be able to buy our $10 DVD players anymore... but it the light of reality, is that such a bad thing.

  5. Funny line on Bill Maher tonight: "Eastwood totally represented what the Republican party is today, an old white guy yelling at something that doesn't exist."

For what it's worth, Maher gave Eastwood honest respect for going out there completely unscripted with just an empty chair and keeping the crowd laughing for the length of his bit.

Carol..renewables was started by GWB...refer to his State of the Union Address.in 2005..sorry ..Obama just took a good idea and tried to move with it...with some relatively good results...most are never mentioned..but I am in that field as you know ..and I keep very very very accurate records of it...that narrative is very bi partisan ...for very good reason...*

    4. GWB STARTED a LOT of things with total disregard for the funding of ANY of them. Oh wait, the deficit was a plan-------------we are funding all of it NOW and as far into the future any of us can see.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

    5. There is nothing wrong with the concept of renewables.

There is, however, something Fundamentally Wrong with pizzin' away a trillion dollars to quid pro quo your major campaign donors for their support whereupon the donors bankrupt their own companies and return that trillion to their own pockets.

    6. Obama said he would cut the debt by 1/2. That would put it at about 5T from the 9-10T he inherited.

      He only missed by 11T.

And the Neandertal Demo's plan is what again?? Spend another 6 trillion and hope for something to happen.

Talking about knuckle dragging, morons. The Dem's proved they can't even get their platform right. Change the words, vote 3 times with the same resounding no and pass it.
      Typical Obama politics.

  7. Why would anyone, Carol, asume that Clint Eastwood's performance is indicative of anything other than Clint Eastwood?
    That's the part I don't get.

He has said many times he refused to let them vet his speech because he had no idea what he was going to say. I don't doubt whoever was responsible for inviting him to talk will not be doing so again soon.

The sad part really is that he missed an opportunity to deliver a strong message and instead--who the heck knows why--decided to opt for non-humorous humor.

I think it says a lot about the arrogance of celebrity that he didn't bother to prepare a better message. We are used to and allow our celebrities to misbehave with great regularity because we so worship them.
