What Would You Think Of Electric Cars?

If we could generate limitless electricity for almost free?

Fusion hasn't happened yet, but it seems like they are getting close.  We can only hope that we have good battery technology developed by the time they are successful at the NIF.

  1. If you could generate electricity for near free, look at the damage you would do to the economy. How many people would they put out of work at the utilities? The number of people in the oil industry, coal industry, solar, wind companies. The unemployment rate would go back up to 8%.

    1. Nice looking vehicle. But then again you would expect that with 465 million in government loans. To bad it's just under 50K after rebates, a bit high for the middle class. It's better than other electrics 300 miles/55mph. But then again why buy a premium sports car if your going to drive 55mph?

    2. It's built to compete and perform with premium gas-powered sedans in the same price range - the BMWs, the Jags, the Audis, etc. The S does bear a striking resemblance to an Aston Martin/Jaguar in the profile.

      Could be an alt-fuel winner.

An interesting debate going on as to the true cost of producing a Volt.

    1. As with any new technology, the major costs are in the development of the products. The technology gets better and the price drops. Plug in electric vehicles are not the answer to our energy or pollution problems yet. If people are able to develop working fusion reactors, these types of cars will be the answer. Fusion seems tantalizingly close now - maybe developing electric cars that will take advantage of future technology is not such folly after all.
