Well, since the other blog on this topic went pretty far off the rails, thanks in part to my big mouth, here is something new http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/10/02/judge-halts-pa-tough-new-voter-id-requirement/
From the little bit I have read, this seems to follow the new logic of politics in America. When you don't want to be the one responsible for making a decision, you just block enforcement. Oh well, mission accomplished mostly I guess.
Isn't it the truth. No one wants to take responsibility in this country any more.
ReplyDeleteThis judge has basically called this law out for exactly what it is, but doesn't have the balls to overturn it. He's made clear exactly what the intent of the law is, why it's bullshit and why it's bad. However, it is likely that he, like just about anyone in office today, does not want to face an onslaught of Koch money to turn him out of office. So, he does the next best thing which is to say you can do everything BUT block someone from voting for not having an ID.
DeleteFrom what little I was able to find, it seems this judge is a republican, which does matter these days. From the Kochs blocking the EPA to Obama (and ROMNEY) refusing to enforce deportation laws, we've entered a new era.
The law will remain in effect. The Presidential election will be exempted due to the judge feeling that enough people could not obtain ID's prior to November.
ReplyDelete400 housand people a month find their way to file for unemployment but we can't find a few thousand to make their way to the town hall for a free ID within a month's time.
1773-2009 Incredible
Actually Dollar, the law will not remain in effect. However, the PERCEPTION that the law is still in effect will remain. For people like you, that's good enough.
Delete1773 - 1980, the year America lost it's mind and started us on the path to fascism by electing Reagan.
