oooooooops

ShopperTrak, which counts foot traffic and its own proprietary sales numbers from 25,000 retail outlets across the U.S., had forecast Black Friday sales would grow 3.8 percent this year, to $11.4 billion. BUT ShopperTrak estimated that consumers spent $11.2 billion at stores across the U.S. That is down 1.8 percent from last year's total.

  1. Thanksgiving arriving early will result in the longest holiday shopping season ever, 32 days. A slower start probably will average itself out.

    2. Clearly. Clearly that's why retail sales are lower than expected ...

  4. So how do you count foot traffic?
    I've always wondered that.
Install laser beams in all store doorways?

And they ONLY spent $11.2 billion??
    How dreadful....
Surely that would be Bush's fault.

    1. However you count it, you probably should divide by two right?>

  5. wont know until the end of the season, extra days will help. The holiday sales estimates are all over the board. No one really knows.More cash sales, sales pulled forward from December, January. Gift cards aren't calculated in sales figures until actually used, etc...

    It's not Holiday shopping I'm worried about. It's 2013...

  6. Come to Florida to do your shopping. If someone thinks you are getting their parking space they will shoot you, of course you will be packing too so you can enjoy a shoot-out as part of your total shopping experience. Happened last weekend at one of the malls.
