A thought provoking post. Needful of consideration by all who read this thread.
My initial question having skimmed through for the first time is as follows Quote: No penalty for not having Health Insurance
    d) No health facility can deny service Unquote.
TD who pays the costs when there is no insurance and a facility is compelled to provide treatment? I presume there will be no Obamacare.
    Cheers from Aussie

    1. "No penalty for not having Health Insurance"

Under Obamacare folks that do not/will not have health care insurance pay a fine, collected by the 16,000 IRS agents the bill includes funding for.

    2. TD, there is plenty there I agree with. I could post a multi point platform as well, but it's moot. The perfect world you and I imagine would result from our platforms is so far from where reality currently resides, there is zero chance of bringing it to fruition. Is the best answer to that scenario to sulk and tell the world to F off until they see our truth?

The world is not changed by people who show up to vote and scurry back to their computers to do nothing but bitch and post links of doom. We can assume you teaching your children how bad liberals and Obama are, but what else do you do to recreate the world in your image?

    3. My five year olds aren't taught politics, they are taught to know the difference between right and wrong, they are taught to make make the right choices. Currently the folks in DC are making the wrong choices and the choices they are making are going to hurt my children.

Plese note I said "the folks in DC" not the dems or the pubs

  2. Kingston, those of us who pay over $2,600 a month for health coverage pay for those who have none. I recently negotiated a procedure for $160 that was out of my network and , while covered, covered at a greater reduced rate.

I had to pay cash up-front because the doc I preferred was NOT in my network. Because I know HOW to negotiate, and because I could pay the amount, it worked with negotiation.

For those who cannot negotiate, don't know they can even negotiate, are on the dole---------the state pays whatever the Dr. or Hospital requires.

This system is broken------BUT it can be fixed. Question is, is there the will to fix it????

    1. Here in lies the problem. Everyone wishes we could insure everyone in the country. We can't afford it in todays taxation system. No one want st payu more. The 47% don't want to pay more, neither do the 53% paying today.

Today Obamacare will cost us 280 billion more in the first year above the taxes they expect to collect, (estimate is probably low). That will be added to our debt every year for the first 10 years then it will go up.

We are 1 trillion plus a year in the red every year, add in the 280 billion. How do we pay this bill? It's nice that everyone has healthcare, who is going to pay this bill????

The system that is broken is the system that allows us to spend over a trillion dollars that we do not have.

Bingo. That is the entire story right there. Who is going to pay the bill indeed. As it stands now, we simply shift cost away from the for profit group and stick it to the taxpayers. If we refused admittance to hospitals of those without insurance, we would not have the costs we do today. Likewise, if we told seniors, you can have enough morphine to die in peace but nothing else if you can't afford it, we also would not have the cost. The problem Lou, which you just nailed, is that we DO want a basic level of healthcare for everyone, but we don't want to actually pay for it.

We can afford a basic level of healthcare. we cannot afford the cadillac plan.

No BC pills, no Cholesterol pills no freebies.

      A 50 dollar co-pay instead of 20.00 of no co-pay i.e. medicaid.

A plan to reduce obesity to reduce costs.

Without the free stuff, maybe we could do this and do it well.

    4. I honestly don't understand the BC thing. There are plenty of things in our health care system to be morally opposed to, yet, this one is a major lightening rod.

As for copays and plans to reduce obesity, no argument there. Our system is not about health, it is vastly geared towards paying for drugs and procedures that help offset the effects of an unhealthy lifestyle. Health is a multi layer deal. I rarely see people who are emotionally happy and in good shape come into the ICU for a heart attack. That so many people are so unhappy should be a subject of interest. As far as healthcare goes, it isn't.

  3. TD, your platform sounds exactly like the one followed by the leaders of the USSR and later Russia. Amazing coincidence.
