Teddy Canada

So, I have a genuine question. In the midst of all the Obama birther nonsense, I kinda felt like the issue was that he was not legal to hold the office because he was born in Kenya. No one seems to dispute his mother was American. Personally, I accept that he was born in Hawaii. But, based on what Cruz is saying, that should have been irrelevant. Nobody is asking this question on the nws stations, but I honestly want to know what is the difference here between Cruz and Obama. If Obama would have been disqualified if it was proved his birth certificate was not real, then is Cruz not disqualified for being born in Canada?

Again, I truly don't care. I don't believe he can win anyway I just find it amazing Trump is getting traction with this. Teddy also, IMO, shot himself in the foot with the New York values comment. I see more and more people, both Democrat and Republican starting to make peace with the very strong possibility of a Trump candidacy. If established Republicans are pissed, I say you got no one to blame but yourself. I believe there are a lot of good, reasonable Republicans and now that the base has been whipped into a frenzy to hate eveyone who is allegedly part of "the establishment", they are now getting a thin skinned, whiny bitch in Trump who is whipping them. It's taken what, just a week or so for Trump to also slap away Cruz's feeble attempts to swing at the King?

Still, the question remains if anyone wants to take a whack at it. What makes Cruz different from Obama?

  1. we need more info Max. during the Obama discussion it was brought forward by a member here that although his mother was American Stanley Ann Dunham had to meet certain residency requirements for Obama to be considered as an American by virtue of his birth to an American living abroad if he had been born in Kenya. So we need more information on this such as did Cruz' mother meet these residency requirements prior to his birth. this is where trump may be getting his traction. Did Cruz' mother live in Canada a short time before he was born or did she live there since she was 8- 10 years old? No one has yet to state that. If she moved there as a child then she would not meet the residency requirement to make Cruz a native or natural born citizen of the United States thus disqualifying him for the office he seeks. And it has been proven that Obama was in fact born in the State of Hawaii.

  2. Mr. Haney also has a problem with this goldman Sachs loan thing. Even if it was legally reported and there is some speculation that it was improperly reported at least, this flies right into the face of his credo against the established interests that run the country.

    1. Thanks Rick, that's what I was looking for because I honestly didn't get it. It's not my issue, but it's amazing how this has stuck to him and how it has now taken hold. Trump's dismissal of him the other day was a pretty harsh slapdown when he said, "Why are you even running?"

As for the loan thing, I hadn't heard anything about it. Ill have to look that up.

    2. The first Congress of the United States passed the Naturalization Act of 1790, just three years after the Constitution was written, which stated that children born abroad to U.S. citizens were, too, natural born citizens. Many members of the inaugural Congress were also authors of the Constitution.

Seems Obama's home town paper agrees.

Qualifications for President and the “Natural
      Born” Citizenship Eligibility Requirement
      Seems CRS agrees.

    3. Thanks Lou. Still, based on that, I kinda wonder what all the uproar was over Obama. Again, I believe the Hawaii story, but even if not true, am I reading it wrong that based on your links it wouldn't have mattered?

  3. The difference (for those who care) is that Barack Hussien Obama is a black guy with a funny sounding A-rab name and Ted Cruz is not.

    Imho ...

    1. Of course. There was also the charge that Obama was a Muslim, both the birther and the Muslin claims are being regularly repeated on "social media" even today. And then there is the charge that Obama wants to destroy America, which was implied by Rubio during the recent debate. But now Trump has taken up the birther charge against Cruz, as he did against Obama.

    2. Well, that's the obvious answer to me, but I think at this point, the hostility is so deep that any reason to topple a candidate who is doing well is a good reason. MLK was assassinated for being uppity, Obama hasn't had that yet. I guess that's progress for the nation.
