When India was partitioned, following the withdrawal of the English Raj, Muslims fled to the areas of East and West Pakistan to escape Hindu dominated India, where they suffered secular violence. Those areas, now known as Pakistan and Bangladesh, are overwhelmingly Muslim.
Aljazerra reports Pakistan is 97% Muslim.
