    1. This is not an upset, it went as planned. The fact of the matter was, the Brotherhood was much more organized and therefor would come out on top.

    2. William, an interesting slant on the topic.
Could you explain please (1) How was Egypt a county that could “be lost”. To my knowledge America did not have territorial rights in Egypt prior to the recent revolution and subsequent installation of the present regime. So I ask again, what did America lose? (2) How can Sec.state be responsible for the alleged loss. I agree implementation of FP is her responsibility but what were her orders from the Pres in relation to Egypt?

      Cheers from Aussie

    4. What did America lose? Another piece of the facade and false belief that we can control the world and make everyone act the way we wish them to.

  2. Libyan embassy attack
Egyptian constitution based on Sharia law
    Syrian civil war
    Iranian nuclear bomb advancement
    Israeli citizens under rocket attacks
    Afghanistan malaise
    Pakistan Taliban resurgence
    Mali infiltrated by al qaeda

I would say Hillary, the leader of our State Department, has made a mess of it.

    Disagree?

    1. Sigh, the view of the world through a milk straw continues. The US and UK have been playing empire in the middle east for quite some time. These revolutions that are occurring are the result of DECADES of buildup of anger. So many leaders in the ME have ripped their people off and sold their wealth from out from under them and left them only crumbs to exist on. A true irony is that those calling for Sharia law have quite a bit in common with some groups here in America today.

Just recently, HSBC was caught red handed laundering money for multiple bad groups which can only make me think about how many they helped that they didn't get caught helping. Is that on our state department? We give money to Egypt. We give money to Israel. We CONTINUE to fight to the death to remain addicted to oil and in the process continue to enrich countries who hate us.

The harsh reality is that the Middle East will NEVER join the modern until they choose to do so. What we have done for decades is block the violent but likely necessary steps in the middle that must occur for them to get there. The belief that we can control the process through money and military is bankrupting us financially and morally.

      Jama’a Al-Islamiya: Egyptians Want Shariah

This ludicrous explanation the incarcerations, intimidation and the protests, we suppose.

      From the Egypt Independent:

Egyptians voted for the Constitution because they believe in the nation’s Islamic identity and want the application of Sharia, said Jama’a al-Islamiya member Aboud al-Zomor.

Zomor was convicted of plotting late President Anwar al-Sadat’s assassination and spent almost 30 years in prison before being released in April 2011.

He told the German news agency DPA that the Constitution is “a source of stability, development and security, and confirms the Islamic identity of the state.”

“The percentage of those demanding the application of Sharia in Egypt is much higher than the 64 percent that supported the Constitution,” Zomor said. “Some rejected the Constitution because it does not enforce Sharia strictly enough.”

Zomor said that he hopes an article will be drafted to prevent the drafting of any laws that would contradict Sharia. However, he said he was not concerned that such laws would be passed because legislative powers are now in the hands of the Shura Council, “which has an Islamist majority that would not allow any violation of Sharia.”

    3. As usual, William, there is a great deal of irony in YOU posting such a thing. Regardless, here is a simple question, what business is this of ours? You don't want OUR government telling you what to do, or judging you for how you want to live your life, yet, you are all over this like stink on crap. The political sphere you reside in has much more in common with Sharists then you realize.

    4. Max, for you to compare someone like myself who supports our constitution to a commonality with Sharia law is laughable.

Get off the "brown shirt" stick Maxie. The founders were not brown shirts. The brown shirts were centralized big government national socialists. We support limited government. Get it?

At the same time we expect our cabinet members to perform their jobs and support stated national interests. By anyone's measure Ms. Rodham Clinton was a failure in that respect.

    5. It's not the documents I am comparing, it is the uncompromising fervor and desire to see life as we know it rolled back 200 hundred years or so. The brown shirts shared the same, scapegoating sense of anger and fear mongering.

Still, you never responded to Kingston or my post here. What exactly was ours that was "lost" and what business is it of ours?

    6. Max, any embassy or consulate anywhere is our sovereign territory. We happen to have "lost" that along with four American lives.

As for Egypt, add up the investment we have made in dollars and military hardware to stabilize the region. I know that oil, Israel, and the Suez canal are not important to you as a socialist Max, but the World just happens to have been living along this lifeline for decades. I'm sure you do not consider this a "loss" as a progressive.

To be honest, sometimes your requests for response do not deserve it, your queries so inane.

    7. "As for Egypt, add up the investment we have made in dollars and military hardware to stabilize the region"

Yeah, let's add the up and see exactly how much stability it has bought. Your endless taunt of calling me a communist or socialist is fucking childish, but you love your labels, maybe it makes life easier for you to just label everyone friend of foe. Our money and addiction to oil has added as much instability to that region as anything else, and it's certainly brought lot of misery to people who have to live there and suffer under the dictators whose pockets we line. You want oil, and you want Israel to be feared by everyone. Everything else, Meh, it's not important.

I guess I should feel honored that someone so important as yourself takes time to respond to people like me who just don't get it.

    8. You asked for response, you got it. We lost the region because we had/have amateurs running things. We will lose so much more over the next four years. BO wanted to bring us down to third world level, he's succeeding.

      Get used to it.

“We lost the region because we had/have amateurs running things"
I ask William once again, how was it your region to lose>?
If your opposition to the Democrats is so intense, have you considered that the majority who voted recently in the Presidential election opted for a Democratic candidate? By definition does this make that majority wrong in their beliefs?
The constant spiteful exchanged between you and Max will have me believing that this forum is going to become the old MW site if we are not careful.

  4. King, we lost our influence in the area. No one, especially our ally Israel, takes Hillary or BO seriously. They both run our policy like lawyers, Splitting the baby while our embassy was in flames, four American's dead. Not one assailant yet to be brought to task, why you ask, because no one respects these two incompetents.

The president as we have discussed before won less than 51% of the vote. The house, our branch that originates spending and controls the purse, remained in the hands of the GOP. As I have said over and over again, we have a president, not a king. Our senate and executive can amend only, not originate our debt policies. Again, more people in all three branches belong to the GOP. Therefore my dear Kingston a majority of voters in this country do not support the president's leftist ideology.

You may have heard of our New Jersey state governor Chris Christie. He represents the type of individual that populates our state, no nonsense, straight forward, calls a spade a spade. When it comes to my exchanges with Max I share one of my governor's traits. We both do not suffer fools easily.

  5. William my thanks for the explanation concerning the origin of money bills, I am better informed.
I do however question your interpretation of some statistical facts. We have to accept that there was a small turnout at the polls ;but of those who took the trouble to vote, more voted for the President than voted for the Republican challenger (51% to 47.3% If however, we look at the college ( the real power broker) we find 332 to 206 votes with the latter allocated to the Republicans..
I have heard of Gov Christie, a rather large man with a vocabulary matching his intellect. He may well be the man your great state needs at the present time but not for long term tenure of the important office. Perhaps Gov Wallace of Wisconsin would be a better figurehead for Republican supporters; he at least followed the traditional values of the party and won the recall last year.

“We lost our influence in the area” this is your explanation of what you actually had to lose in Egypt. Well what can I say? America as I have said many times here and elsewhere did sterling job as the worlds policeman for the past fifty years, aided by NATO and others including Australia. Your influence is on the wane, brought about mostly by inept government over the past two decades. America was feared during the two decades post WW2 and then respected until about the turn of the century, now your government is becoming a joke to the rest of the world and unfortunately the demise began with the first term of GWB who simply could not see the picture from a standpoint of economics and fiscal responsibility. The present administration is little better and the “Hill” must bear as much responsibility as the President. Party politicking is ruining your country and the “entitlement” mentality, as with Australia under a quasi socialist government is leading both our countries to the edge of the abyss.

    Cheers from Aussie

    1. King, our method of checks and balances limits our executive branch. Long ago we threw out one king and we will not be required to do that again. The electoral co eye effectively serves for one day. Our president, no matter his margin of victory is supposed to represent all of our citizens. Unfortunately that takes a real leader.

I agree about gov Christie and would hope he obtains a second term and remains here to help us through our hurricane Sandy disaster. At the end of the day Christie is a modified RINO.

As for GWB and our standing in the world all I can say is 9/11 dealt the cards the president would play. The Bush's being RINO's handled it as any RINO would. Rumsfeld formulated a "small footprint" but was over run by our military industrial complex.

Obama spent four years blaming GWB, passing out goodies and campaigning. Enough of our citizens now receive money for nothing and have little incentive to vote for someone who might require them to once again become productive. It's seems both of our countries became fat and happy. It is a long road back but the journey has begun here.

The congressional session currently ending passed fewer bill's than any in decades. This is a positive start to a return to limited government. Regulations will be surveyed closely going forward. Proposed new laws will actually be read before being voted on.

1773-2009 The Tea Party is making an impact.

  6. Fair enough Kingston, although as food for thought, I find it a bit interesting you take some here to task for the things I do and say things that are in spirit the same thing I am saying.

I appreciate your second para as I tend to agree with much of it. Still, to blame the government for being inept is, in my opinion, to greatly diminish the great leap forward the rest of the world has taken; sometimes with our help, sometimes in spite of our medling. We've supported brutal thugs like Saddam and Osama when it served us, and took them down when they went rogue. This kind of medling, I believe, gave us a false sense of belief that we were really controlling things.

But, I'll stop there. It seems you've already stopped taking me seriously.
