I can't bitch about anything today

Well, for the third time in six years, the Chicago Blackhawks have won the Stanley Cup and I'm pretty much on cloud nine right now. My plane ticket back to Chicago to see the parade is booked. In our common areas at work, we have some 60 inch TVs and there some family members watching the game last night and I had a colleague take a shot of me next to the captain of the team, Jonathan Toews, as he hoisted the chalice. Sigh, that beard gets a little grayer every year that I grow it for hockey season, but that will be coming off this week.

Something that makes this extra special is that the Hawks have not won the Stanley Cup on home ice since 1938. They have won both of the last two championships on another team's ice. As for the team they beat, the Tampa Bay Lightening, all I can say is wow. Until last night, every single game of the series was decided by one goal or less. The Blackhawks have incredibly good players and incredible experience to boot, but top to bottom, the Hawks have an embarrassment of riches of talent and despite the gap, TB could easily have won this series had they gotten a couple of more breaks.

Life is good today.

    1. It's all about the breaks of the game.

      Did Chicago survive the celebration?

    2. I wore my Red Wings shirt during the game.

    3. Right about the time Tampa beat the Wings, people starting taking them real seriously. The post salary cap world has not been kind to the Wings. Now that Babcock has gone to Toronto, it will be very interesting to see if they maintain their ungodly long streak of making the playoffs.

  2. There is something wrong, either with me or the world!. On the same day we have the account by Mike of an ice hockey game which brings tears to the eyes of someone who has never seen a game at any level.
Just getting over that lot and I read Donald Thump is running for the big house!.It appears however that the thumper did not nominate as a Republican so perhaps he is running as an independent. Louman always stresses the importance of the independents come voting time; I wonder if this independent includes the prince of clowns?.

    Cheers from a bemused Aussie

    1. Why not Donald? The hair do alone should be enough to garner the necessary votes to be president. People have voted for far less.
