(Reuters) Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker told a private dinner of New Hampshire Republicans this month that he backed the idea of allowing undocumented immigrants to stay in the country and to eventually become eligible for citizenship, a position at odds with his previous public statements on the matter.
Mr. Walker’s remarks, which were confirmed by three people present and haven’t been reported previously, vary from the call he has made in recent weeks for “no amnesty”—a phrase widely employed by people who believe immigrants who broke the law by entering the country without permission shouldn’t be awarded legal status or citizenship.
The changing positions by Mr. Walker, a likely candidate for the GOP presidential nomination, show the difficulty that some in the Republican Party face as they try to appeal both to the conservative GOP primary electorate—which largely opposes liberalizing immigration laws—and business leaders and general election voters who have been more supportive of granting legal status to undocumented immigrants.

I expect it of the President. I expected Walker to toe the party line, along with most of the other Presidential wannabees. The article points up the difficulty of doing that while also appealing to business interests and voters at large. I thought that was interesting.

The Ameribots are to worried about who will win a basketball game, Dancing with the stars, the new American Idol not to mention Survivor.

DeleteThat was in 2013 now Walker is totally against any form of a pathway to citizenship. In march of 2015 he told Chris Wallace on FOX News " My view has changed. I'm flat out saying. it.
DeleteWalker in 2014 supported a bill that provided information for women considering an abortion so that they could make a more informed decision, stating that the final decision should be between a woman and her doctor. In March of 2015 in an open letter on Life Walker now states that he will sign a pending Wisconsin bill prohibiting abortion of any kind after twenty weeks if it makes it to his desk.he also said he supports such legislation on a federal level.
In 2006 Walker opposed the renewable fuel standard that gives farmers subsidies for ethanol, stating " the free markets must drive innovation to relieve our dependence on foreign oil not government mandates." Well guess what happened in 2015 at a speech at an Iowa agricultural summit? Seems Walker is now all in on the renewable Fuel Standards calling it equity to farmers and an all access issue.
2012 Walker chaired a special educational panel in Wisconsin that became one of the first in the nation to adopt Common Core with Walker stating, Wisconsin is among the first of 48 states to adopt Common Core a set rigorous standards benchmarked against the standards of the highest performing countries.........' but alas in 2014 Walker called on the Wisconsin legislature to abolish common core and replace it with new standards developed by the people of Wisconsin.
At the state GOP convention in 2012 Walker stated " I have no interest in pursuing right to work legislation in this state. It's not going to get to my desk... private sector unions have overwhelmingly come to the table to be my partner in the economic development of the state.....
oops in his statement as he signed a right to work bill walker stated... " Wisconsin is open for business is now more then a slogan it is a way of doing business..
Gee this guy wants the tea party vote bad. This guy wants the big business money bad. This guy is more transparent then glass and as flimsy as tissue paper give me a break Louman he has changed his mind on just about everything that matters in this up coming election.
And yeah Lou I find the NCAA tournament quite entertaining. Looks like it is going to be hard for anybody to whip Kentucky. It doesn't make me any more low information then you just more diverse in what I think about which (GASP) isn't doom and gloom 24/7.
DeleteJohn Calipari is a very shrewd coach. He knows that he can lure the cream of the high school players by promising them a quick route to the NBA and the promise of big money. Others whine that college players should stick around for 4 years and get an "education", while losing millions in salary.
