Gowdy Accuses Clinton

(Source Politico)  Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said Friday that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wiped "clean" all private emails from her server, defying a subpoena from Gowdy requesting "any emails relating to Libya, weapons located in the country, the Benghazi attacks, and administration statements following the attacks on the compound," Politico reports.

Gowdy, who is chairman of the Select Committee on Benghazi, subpoenaed Clinton following reports that she had saved emails on a private server and used a personal email account while at the State Department. He said it appeared she deleted the emails permanently sometime after October 28, 2014.

An attorney for Clinton, David Kendall, responded to Gowdy in a letter stating that the 900 pages of emails Clinton has already provided to the panel cover the subpoena's requests. Gowdy responded that Clinton's defiance of the subpoena could move him and Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to consider new legal actions against the former secretary.

  1. And what's the downside?

Hilly can say anything she wants, nothing here, just move on.

2016 is a very long time from now and the people who do vote have a 30 second memory as proven in every election.

    1. The downside is millions spent on a political exercise which will probably lead nowhere, and, as you say, most of the electorate could care less. The Republican faithful will vote Republican, no matter who runs and the Democratic faithful will vote Democratic. So, if these witch hunts ( Select Committees} rile the moderates and centrists, they will only hurt the party involved. Why don't they recognize this?

    2. The only time democrats worry about money is when their leaders are under investigation.

    3. The real question to ask is why was Hilly allowed to have a private email server and email to begin with. If it's against the law, prosecute. Why did she wipe it?

It's a sad commentary that such a person could even for an instant be considered for the highest office in the land by either a party or the people. Are Americans that jaded to not insist on the highest integrity for it's elected officials?

In the interests of democracy and fair government, would it not be better to introduce compulsory voting for at least some positions within the nation. Perhaps Presidential and House and Senate Nationally as a beginning. I do understand that democracy and compulsion are poor bedfellows in your country where freedom is something of a religion.

I find it passing strange that such a small percentage ( less than 40 I believe) actually voted at the last half term election. I realize the donkey vote effect would be a problem but I wonder how many of the non voters continue to bitch against the government they were too idle to elect.I do believe also that government,in your country and mine make life difficult for themselves by the constant party political bitterness. No party has the wisdom to be correct all the time, compromise is seldom the best way to resolve a difficulty but it is certainly more successful than a perenial standoff when nothing gets done.Look at the past six years on the hill in your country. Australia is little better and we do have compulsory voting.

    1. The age old question exists:
Is it better to force everyone to vote regardless if they understand who they are voting for or should we continue with a semi informed voting base?

I would argue the current stand offs, road blocks could be eliminated with term limits for congress. We would no longer have the McConnell's, Reid's, Pelosi's, Boehners running the house and senate.

    2. Great idea king. Let's pass more election laws so we can find more work for the IRS to do fining people and build more jails when we convict them. We already blow hundreds of millions on people we can't find, people who impregnate people and change their locations like you change shirts.
Great idea king. We need less not more stupid laws.

    3. But I can see why the democrats are worried about turnout. Will HRC be able to marshal Obama ' s black urban leagions? Highly doubtful that the urban ministers will have the same enthusiasm for a white girl.

    4. William.
So you want fewer laws, good idea perhaps but where is your celebrated freedom to be found if fewer laws, for fewer voters affect those who do not vote?. Make the system compulsory so that everyone can be free to join the revolution against the government. Hats on sideways, breeches of brown cord and the muskets primed and pointed at the White house. Give me liberty or give me death. I can see it now. A dapper gentleman being driven along Pennsylvania Avenue in a carriage drawn by black horses with black attendants in fine livery. A film would be made of course, entitled the return of Jefferson. You know, I am going to awaken from this wonderful dream and return to the nightmare which is the modern day.

      Cheers from Aussie
