Modern Propaganda

What’s Missing from This New York Times Frontpage on the Selma March Speaks Volumes.

The New York Times commemorated the 50th anniversary of the march in Selma, Alabama by running a frontpage photo that is raising some questions.
The paper of record, the anointed gold standard of journalistic integrity, appears to be playing games with its audience by conveniently cropping out a long-time political foe of the newspaper: President George W. Bush.
Here is a wider angle photo of the marchers in Selma, Alabama, as reported by NewsbustersLook below.

And here is a “more inclusive” photo with all the prominent figures included (as noted by Ben Smith, not of Buzzfeed fame):

If you peer down to the lower right, you will notice former President George W. Bush and Laura Bush walking hand- in-hand with the marchers.
Wait, the story gets… better? Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz also whitewashes Bush from the event.
As noticed by The Conservative Treehouse, the following is a photo from Selma, Alabama today. From left to right, you’ll see Laura Bush, President George W. Bush, First Lady Michelle Obama, President Barack Obama, and Representative (D-GA) John Lewis:

For foreigners, especially those such as I with a keen interest, I thank you for posting the pictures. I can now hopefully get to the story which accompanied the illustrations
Pray tell, what is the significance of the cropping in the photo of ex Pres GWB? Is GWB still influential and what influence would you say he had on the Selma march originally?. From what little I have been able to read at present, the march was a commemoration of the fifty years since the event which did so much to change the history of race relations in the US. The death of Jimmie Lee Jackson was but one extra can of gasoline to stoke the fires burning so brightly at the time.
Sitting here at my desk many thousands of miles away I have my books and notes to remind me of the momentous events of the last half century. I think I can see great strides have been taken but more needs to be done if true equality is to be found.

I also invite my American friends to look at the history of white man in Australia, we destroyed a noble race because the early settlers were given to understand the country had no population ( the legal declaration was terra nullius) meaning empty land. How wrong they were and yet another crime we can lay at the door of the government of Westminster, the worst colonizing government in recent history.

    Cheers from Aussie

    1. Race is big business here king. The DEM's couldn't possibly win national elections if the large majority of blacks did not consistently vote them in. The liberal media of course hates GW Bush and their carefully painted portrait requires constant cultivation.

GW Bush spearheaded efforts to increase funding for AIDS drugs to Africa by a factor of about ten. Cultural relations were light years ahead prior to the Obama administration. Obama had an historical chance to move pur country forward in this area. He has been an abysmal failure.

Cropping of historical photos is one of the oldest propaganda tricks. Shame on you NY Times.
