No worries. Obama made it conditional that Al Maliki negotiate and "compromise" with the extremist terrorists and Al Maliki basically told Obama to F' Off.
He did do that, and then kinda sorta walked it back a little http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/06/17/us-iraq-security-idUSKBN0EP0KJ20140617 Ruthless as Saddam was, he was basically secular asshole. Now that we removed him, we have unleashed biblical religious fighting. There are basically two solutions here and neither are good. One is to occupy the country forever, and the other is to find another ruthless secular asshole who will crush everyone.
For political purposes, some people in the country will pick up this issue with the enthusiasm of Maliki sitting in peace session and wail about how weak Obama is. We left Iraq because the majority of the country was tired of wasting blood and treasure there. Obama just happens to be the guy in the house right now hoping he can kick the football into the next administration.
Ayn Rand said you can't force freedom at the end of a gun, and now even Glenn Beck has realized the same thing http://www.newsweek.com/glenn-beck-admits-liberals-were-right-iraq-war-255341
Pick one anyone. Is Egypt better off today than 5 years ago? Is Libya better off than 5 years ago? Is Syria better off than 5 years ago? Certainly Iraq isn't.
Inytervention then non intervention has it's price and we are paying that today.
Middle Eastern violence and instability are homegrown. They result from a complex brew of tribalism, religious fundamentalism and intolerance, sexual apartheid, anti-Semitism, authoritarianism, and statism — all made worse by huge oil revenues and its key strategic location.
Some things you can fix others you cannot. The key is to know the difference.
