  1. if that turns out to be true how stupid would 30% of the republican base appear to be. Kinda makes sense. No republican pundit supports him nor does FOX News. In fact the repubs are scratching their heads try to figure out how to stop him, which is eventually going to drive him and 30% of the party into the independent run he might make. Very clever plan and one that Bill Clinton could in fact conceive.

    1. the thought occurred to me last night that if Trump goes independent, could that open the door to Sanders doing the same? And if Trump breaks the Republican party's stranglehold on deciding who gets to run from right of center, what if Carson made the same decision?

    2. Carson is considering it right now. Would we need to have an "independent" convention?

    3. I'm not sure if Carson will have the money to make that kind of run. I don't think Trump is going to win that conservative block that I arguably think Cruz and Carson were getting attention from. I actually was struck the other day by the analogy that this is truly turning into a season of that TV show survivor. This Trump/Cruz thing looks a lot like the pact between episode one players Richard and Rudy. If Cruz decides to ultimately play puppy to stay in the game and signs on with Trump as his VP, that could get some attention.
