Another Shooting

Northern Arizona University said Thursday that one person was dead and three wounded outside a dorm at the university's Flagstaff campus. The suspected shooter is in custody and the campus isn't on lockdown, the university added. NSU spokeswoman Cindy Brown didn't provide any details about the shooting, except that it happened outside Mountain View Hall, a dormitory that ABC News says houses most of the students involved in Greek organizations

  2. Authorities identified the student who died as Colin Brough and the injured victims as Nicholas Prato, Kyle Zientek and Nicholas Piring.

Northern Arizona University Police Chief Gregory T. Fowler identified the gunman as 18-year-old student Steven Jones and said he used a handgun.

Jones allegedly fired his gun at 1:20 a.m. during a confrontation that spiraled out of control outside Mountainview Hall on the northeast side of the campus.

  3. Breaking news here this morning was that there was another killing on a campus in Texas. the saddest thing about this story blaring across the breakfast table was that we both continued to eat out breakfast and discuss the weather. We are not unfeeling foreigners, we bleed for you too. Perhaps because of the atrocity just a few miles from here when a nutter killed thirty something tourists who were visiting an ancient penitentiary ruin, monument to our short history. After this incident, our Prime Minister John Howard had the guts to propose and steer legislation through the government which became the gun laws for the rest of the world to follow if they had the guts to do so.
My wife is less vocal than I about your gun laws and I have explained several times the blind adherence to, and faith in the Bill of Rights. This morning, for the first time, she asked me to find the reference in the Constitution to the right to bear and use the Kalashnikov and similar weapons?. My explanation that the constitution was written for the times and the circumstances of the period were of little use as a debating tool. I for one could simply not find it in me to defend the indefensible.

    Cheers from Aussie
