California Admits Obamacare Interest Was Inflated By Almost 8 Times

Remember all those headlines about the "millions" of people swamping the new Obamacare exchange sites and how that explained why the "glitches" appeared and how this proves the American people are so desperate for the insurance... well, the truth appears to be leaking out. As Politico reports, California’s health insurance exchange reported - wrongly - that it had received 5 million hits on its website the first day of Obamacare. State officials said the real number was only about a tenth of that, or 645,000. Is it any wonder that fewer Americans trust other Americans than ever before?

I think we should rename Obamacare to Liarcare....

    2. Who cares. Obamacare is here and the websites seem to be working normally after being overwhelmed which was to be expected. Healthcare for all Americans is something that was needed decades ago. -USSNJ

    3. Wrong again - I just got this message while trying to log in.

"We’ll send you to the login page as soon as we can"

And it should be obvious as there are no local sob stories about how a certain uninsured individual finally became insured.

  3. 645,000 sounds about right. Some underling probably gave the 5 mil figure. 2.8 Million nationwide hits at Healthcare.gov on the first day. That will overwhelm most websites. Were they all signing up. Doubt it . The conservative mis information campaign of the last 4 years has confused a lot of people. My guess is that many of the hits were purely for information. But the bigger story is that the conservatives lost. Obama care has started and it will be very hard to reverse going forward. Even the conservatives will tell you that. So the fact the website crashed, a website hit 2.8 million times, is really a hollow victory isn't it. Grasping are we?

Yup blame some low level person for supplying inflated information to make the demand look good.
By the way have you ever heard of the IRS scandal? You know the one where some low level people were out of control in the targeting of Tea Party applications .

  5. Then pray tell who gave the figure. I'll tell you who, A spokesman. low level can't name them can you. Here's the details you all conveniently forgot to post,

Dana Howard, a spokesman for Covered California, said the error was the result of internal miscommunication.

"Someone misspoke and thought it was indeed 5 million hits. That was incorrect," he said.

  6. Shocker, after being told for years that the young need to participate in the exchanges to make them work and avoid singlepayer, we find out that the insurance is not affordable for the young and they are NOT signing up. Singlepayer here we come... Hello bankrupty and shi tty healthcare for all(unless you are a Senator or Fortune 500 CEO)

  7. More conservative mis information. I am in a group plan and my complete care (health, vision, dental) run 266.00 a month, my share plus the company is probably paying about an equal share, and of course they know my age. Posing as a healthy married 27 year old on the healthcare exchange I can pick up a comparable policy including coverage for my wife,(posing her as a 27 year old also) for 345.00 a month, that's health dental vision. Not bad really. Most young people don't purchase insurance because they are still indestructible in their minds and the $95 tax penalty is not high enough to change that. as the penalty grows more will participate.
