Bush at least had formal authority to "F" with Iraq, Obama....???

The Iraq Resolution or the Iraq War Resolution (formally theAuthorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002,[1] Pub.L. 107–243, 116 Stat. 1498, enacted October 16, 2002, H.J.Res. 114) is a joint resolution passed by the United States Congress in October 2002 as Public Law No: 107-243, authorizing military action against Iraq.

Do I see an invasion of Syria Resolution, or just a pause from the round of golf to send in troops and supporting ___________ fill in the blank(s) regarding Syria.

Film at 11...

  1. The dictator has no use for Congress. He will figure out a "work around" on military use, fake climate change, gun control, and anything else he sees fit to change.

  2. Facing his stiffest resistence on the home front yet in ME involvment (his successes with Libya, Eqypt, Gaza, Sudan, et all notwithstanding)there seems to be EU resistence as well.

While certainly no fan of Assad, who at least resists a caliphate explosion, I have an equal or greater disdain for those opposition factions who endorse cannibalism as proof of their rightous, virtuous zeal.

  3. What if Syria had Nukes. Do you think Obama would be F'ing with Syria? Hell NO. Do you think Iran is learning from this? Heck YES.

AN ATTACK BY THE US WILL BE THE REASON IRAN USES TO GO NUCLEAR. IT WILL ANNOUNCE THAT AFTER THE FACT THOUGH.

Don't believe the Liberals that say Iran will not build nuclear weapons.

    1. Many of the Republicans in Congress are pushing for action in Syria, led by John McCain.

  4. Obama is being pushed by the rightwing element and he will be criticized if he takes action in Syria, or if he doesn't. It's a no win situation. The solution to the problem is for the Europeans to do something for a change. France, Germany, England and the rest of Europe should show some courage for the atrocities being committed in Syria.

Also, Obama may create a worse problem if he does the wrong thing with military action. He most likely will help a rebel faction that will turn on the USA later. That is why nothing has been done to this point. The Middle East is a powder keg of fanatical Arabs who are willing to die to get rid of Christians.

    2. Anon,

But then, Obama staked out his ground when he made his 'redline' position statement, yes?

  5. In reply to Twins above on "having no use for Congress". Let's remember this: Congress cannot agree on programs that they themselves have created, let alone programs that the Democrats have created. The chasm between the Republicans and the Tea Party grows larger every day and sooner or later, there will be a break between the two. The Tea Party is destroying the Republican Party as minorities grow in number in the USA and also grow more fearful of the Republican Party.

  6. Twins, you obviously believe in gun ownership, but if guns are for protecting our citizens, why do so many innocent Americans get killed by gun owners? In other countries where guns are illegal except for hunting purposes, gun violence is a fraction of what we have here in America. Australia for instance, has few gun deaths when compared to the USA.

    2. As I understand the situation, our intervention in Syria with armed forces would be a tragic mistake. Yes, Assad is a genocidal criminal, and the bloodshed is deplorable, but there is nothing we can do about it. Let them fight it out.

  7. Robert Fisk, The Independent, 8/27/13
"If Barack Obama decides to attack the Syrian regime, he has ensured – for the very first time in history – that the United States will be on the same side as al-Qa’ida.

"The men who destroyed so many thousands on 9/11 will then be fighting alongside the very nation whose innocents they so cruelly murdered almost exactly 12 years ago."

    Karl Denniger, Market Ticker,8/28/13
"The biggest problem is that while I'm quite-convinced that someone used chemical weapons in Syria I am not convinced and it certainly has not been proved that it was the Syrian Government that did so.

"Never mind all the connections that appear to be present between the Muslim Brotherhood, Al-Qaida, the "rebels" in Syria and the botched operation in Benghazi, among others

"Al-Qaida is a declared enemy of the United States. This is not a matter of speculation, it is by their own name, hand and actions, including the attacks of 9/11 and those that both preceded and followed that event.

"But attacking the Syrian Government, irrespective of the justification, would absolutely constitute providing material aid and comfort to the militants who are known to be Al-Qaida affiliated.

"If, as I suspect, it turns out that it was the Al-Qaida-linked rebels who actually used the chemical weapons then we will have joined a war on the side of Al-Qaida after they used chemical munitions!"

"Treason is the act of waging war against one's own nation or consciously and purposefully aiding its enemies in a time of war.

We're providing material aid and comfort to a declared enemy of the United States."

"This one can't be justified folks, no matter which way the facts on the ground fall."
