In “Dispiriting Blow” To Tea Party, Roberts Wins Kansas GOP Senate Primary
Sen. Pat Roberts on Tuesday defeated radiologist Milton Wolf 48%-41% in the GOP Senate primary, “dealing a dispiriting blow to the national tea party movement in one of its final chances this year to unseat a Republican senator,” the Washington Post reports. Robert’s defeat of the Tea Party-backed Wolf, says the Post, increases “the odds that for the first time since 2008, no Republican senator will lose in a primary.” The Post adds that “the last major test will come on Thursday in Tennessee, where Sen. Lamar Alexander is heavily favored against state Rep. Joe Carr, an immigration hard-liner running to the senator’s right.”
The last chance to unseat a sitting Republican comes tomorrow but Lamar Alexander leads his Tea Party challenger by more the 12 points. So Th tea party was successful in one race the one that upended past tea party darling Eric cantor's political career. I a related story the tea party seems to be losing support across the nation.
