Should Senators Actually Live in the State They Represent?
Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu doesn't own a home in Louisiana. Her nit-picking opponents are trying to make a big deal of this. What's the problem? Sure, this is what brought Senator Lugar down. But, what the heck, Senators don't represent their in-state constituents anyway, they represent the people who finance their campaigns, big corporations, super pacs, etc. Come on people, lighten up and face reality. http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/DC-Decoder/Decoder-Buzz/2014/0829/Sen.-Mary-Landrieu-owns-no-Louisiana-home.-What-was-she-thinking

Auh... the 17th amendment. The results of the short sighted knee jerk reaction on the part of the populous and a plan well executed by those who work tirelessly at power consolidation.
ReplyDeleteMy Central Jersey union backed "Republican" representative lives in Herndon Virginia. Has for years. Visits occasionally when he's running for re-election. Nice fellow. Career politician. Worked summers during college in his dad's sporting goods store. Lot's of real life experience. Call 's himself a conservative if you ask him.
ReplyDeleteOf such people is our "leadership" made of. God help us if we have a real crisis.
By the way during the last election he amassed a three to one vote total over a former Navy seal.
DeleteThe people pretty much are getting the government they deserve.
