Mitt Romney has announced that he will not run for President but will rather work for other Republican nominees. How do you think this will affect the other Republican candidates chances?

Here's Romney's statement. "I've decided it is best to give other leaders in the Party the opportunity to become our next nominee," Romney told supporters on a morning conference call. "One of our next generation of Republican leaders, one who may not be as well known as I am today, one who has not yet taken their message across the country, one who is just getting started, may well emerge as being better able to defeat the Democrat nominee. In fact, I expect and hope that to be the case."
ReplyDeleteThe world is now a better place.
ReplyDeleteI think he read the same things I did, that his remarks about not caring about 45% of Americans and how he liked firing people would haunt him forever. He shot himself in the foot there.
ReplyDeleteWould this enhance the chances of Bush and what would you expect of his undoubted ability to attract donations do for the party.
ReplyDeleteAs a "Loyal" Republican, would his sponsorship of another candidate provide a healthy advantage or a millstone round his neck.
Just idly wondering if Romney promised support and threw in his campaign organization to Carson, would Carson run?. To me, this is the most interesting season of primaries for years.
Cheers from Aussie

ReplyDeleteThis greatly enhances the chances for Jeb Bush King. He would be a top choice for many of the republican contributors and quite frankly they need to go for him as he would be the most likely candidate that they could field against Hilary Clinton if they want to win. they can holler all they want about Carson, Cruz, Paul and Rubio. None of them can win against Hilary.
ReplyDeleteKingston,This looks good for Jeb. I don't think any of the Republican candidates would benefit by Mitt's endorsement. Since he espoused addressing global warming and increasing aid to the poor, the Tea Party will consider him as a traitor. In my opinion, he would make a good President but he killed his chances in the last campaign when he pretended to be ultra conservative. As Rick knows, the moderates of are the people who elect our Presidents. At some point, that reality must be accepted by any serious candidate.
ReplyDeleteCarson may run but a Romney endorsement would have little effect on his chances.
ReplyDeleteA few days ago on another thread I predicted that Mitt would soon be gone. Nothing against Mitt but live by the large doner die by the large doner. The NY Times ran an article which exposed his campaign fund raiser notifying Mitt that he was late to a game Jeb had canvassed. Christie will make some noise but he will also soon become a candidate for VP or better yet audition for AG.
ReplyDeleteOn the same thread I made it two for two with my Tiger Woods outlook and changing of the guard stance. HRC may soon make me three for three once she experiences more inside Libian exposure. Joe and Liz may soon be back in the game.
Blah blah blah William. I'll cut it to the quick. Ya ready to vote for Jeb? The rest, Carson, Cruz, Rubio and to a lesser extent Paul are just pretenders.
