"Closed legs don’t get fed." - thoughts?

Soon the tables will be reversed since there are so many female bosses.

When I was younger, my grandmother would have a game night at our house with her girlfriends.  I remember sneaking to listen in on their conversations and soak up all the juicy stories.  I barely remember some of the things I heard back then, but one thing I heard has always stuck with me and has proven to be the best advice I’ve ever received.  That sage piece of advice?
"Closed legs don’t get fed."
When the recession started and layoffs hit my company, losing my job sent my life into a tailspin.  All I did was job hunt and pray that things would get better. Boy, did they ever.  After months of searching and eating PB&J for every meal, I found my dream job at a company I had been dying to work for.  The position wasn’t high up and the pay was nothing extravagant, but I had a job that I loved and I was grateful.  My first week in the office was uneventful and typical, that is until I spotted this Adonis a few feet away.  His name was Casey, he was tall, the color of caramel with a gun show and broad back that made it necessary for you to carry extra panties in your purse.  His smile could melt the coldest heart and as I watched him talk to my new coworker about the business trip he just returned from I knew I had to have this man.  There was just one small problem, Casey was my new boss.
Figures I would have the hots for a man that signs checks, including mine.  I was all set to admire from afar until Casey began subtly flirting with me; light touches on the hand and lower back, invites to lunch and “meetings” in his office where we just joked around.  Then one day, like a scene out of a cheesy romantic comedy, he pulled me in his office, pushed me against the wall and kissed me.  It was so disappointing.  I thought there would be sparks, passion and stars.  Instead, I felt blah and ready for it to be over.  But after our kiss I noticed that Casey was putting me on big projects, allowing me to leave early and such so I figured maybe I could pretend to be hot for him as long as I kept getting what I wanted.
Before long, Casey and I were in bed (and on his desk) and I went from an assistant to a coordinator two months later.  The sex wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t mind blowing. However, the perks of being the boss’ woman were too good to pass up.  Within 10 months of me being there, I was promoted twice and now I was managing a team at my dream company, doing my dream job.  Score!!  One day I overheard some of my coworkers talking about me and saying how disgusted they were that I was getting promoted only because I was sleeping with Casey.  They said they would never “sleep their way to the top” and would much rather get promoted based on their hard work in the boardroom, not bedroom.  Fools!  To me, that mentality is exactly why they are where they are.  Like granny said “Closed legs don’t get fed,” and in the corporate world it’s all about who you know, not necessarily what you know.  If I can get ahead in my career being arm candy for the boss, you bet I will and with a smile on my face.  I may have gotten promoted in the bedroom, but I know my stuff and it’s proven in the boardroom day after day and other people in management have complimented me on my work.  Obviously, I’m doing something right.
To be honest, Casey is a great guy who is fun to be around and I do care about him. Do I see us getting married or anything?  No.  It’s not even a topic we’ve discussed nearly two years later.  Right now I think we’re just two people giving each other what they need.  For him, it’s steady sex with a beautiful woman and a chance to flex his ego and “boss” status.  For me, it’s a way to further my career and have a little fun along the way.  I know what people at work say and I know what someone reading this might say.  But at the end of the day, I go to bed peaceful every night comfortable with my actions.  My legs may be open, but I’m getting fed and very well.  Granny would be proud.

  1. The oldest professional aid. The oldest profession. No difference really.

  2. She admits that her and her granny were easy.... isn't that special - not...

The way that she described him in the beginning " .. made it necessary to carry an extra pair of panties..." shows that she would have screwed him for free. It is her prerogative to be as sexually loose as she chooses as she is a big girl but to suggest that this is a feminine norm well that is a stretch. Although there are many who will stop at nothing to advance many still have a "line" that they will not cross - well maybe a bit more than a few.

    2. Pfunky... What is your take, as a woman, on the subject of prostitution. I don't mean what is identified in the article. Hell, we all prostitute ourselves to one degree or another even if it is as small as not being able to see your child’s performance in a school play because the boss says... bend over.

From a libertarian point of view, I see it as an action between consenting adults but are women (sex workers in general) any more exploited by doing that than they are working in a sweat shop or picking vegetables for $15 dollars a day?

My counter take is that it is a public health issue and while a person might consent, they might be getting more than they pay for. Also I have nagging moral issues... kind of a NIMBY thing. Your thoughts?

    3. I'm kinda on the same page as you, TS. This is one of those things that I'm very libertarian about. I can't, for the life of me, wrap my head around the notion that it should be illegal to sell something that's perfectly legal to give away ;-) This is about my bottom line as far as prostitution goes. Anything else I babble about in this post is just context.

My one qualifier is, of course, is that the transaction occurs between consenting adults, both parties being aware of the risks and rewards.

Prostitution has been around since the beginning of civilization - it ain't going away any time soon. As far as the NIMBY thing goes, I think the Europeans got it right with their "Red Light Districts". We have Zoning laws in our localities. We have areas that are zoned for bars, night clubs, strip clubs, and gambling establishments. We could zone for brothels as well.

This is probably where you and I may diverge: I'm for zoning for brothels and certifying sex workers, along with some kind of minimum requirement to maintain that certification, i.e. monthly screening for STDs and whatnot. This would certainly help mitigate some of the public health concerns you bring up. Sound crazy, but makes sense: If you need a CDL to be a professional truck driver, why not a BJL to be a professional sex worker?

The exploitation issue is a bit of a grey area. I will grant that I've never met a woman who's dream it is to grow up and become a hooker. Obviously many are doing it cuz they're pretty thin on options. But still, I tend to think of exploitation applying more to young girls than to adults.

That point leads to the underlying economic driver. You get a 19 year old out there without a whole lot of prospects or education, maybe single & supporting a kid thinking, "Hmmm ... I can go work at Mickey D's for $8 an hour, 40 hours a week, or I can just blow Ronald McDonald and take home the same amount in 10 minutes ..."

How they arrive at that thought, who's to say? Some may not have the time, resources, ability or opportunity to work - or some, if we're gonna be honest, may just be lazy skanks. I'm sure that there are some women who enjoy it, work very hard at it and are very successful - not the "turning tricks behind the dumpster to make a fix" variety, but the high-dollar pro escorts. My guess is that the former is more common than the latter though ...

That's all I got for now, TS. Maybe I'll revisit & elaborate more later, but I think I expressed my sorta bottom-line viewpoint of prostitution in my 1st paragraph.

    4. Thanks for that. A long story short; I was a young G.I. in Germany... I and a few others travelled to Amsterdam for new years. We went to the club scene which was also the red light district. I saw a woman standing by the street. No being one to miss an opportunity I went over and started talking to her. She was personable and certainly attractive. I attempted a chat up and she said that she was waiting for her husband as she had just finished work. I asked her where she worked.... she turned and pointed to her little sex den.

When her husband drove up, she indicated that she had to go... went to the car, got a big hug and kiss from her husband and hugs from both of her children, as she got in the car she acknowledged us and they drove off like a normal suburban family.... Certainly gave me a new angle to consider.

We don’t diverge on the need for regulation as much as you may think. One the two greatest myths put forth by the democrats and republicans and parroted by the media is that libertarians are anarchists. More appropriately I would say that we feel that 80% of what occurs in Washington has no business there and of the remaining 20%, 10 is inefficient and ill spent pork and overreach. There is no sensible person who could conceive of a country functioning smoothly without some method of governance and enforcement... The extent is what is up for debate. The second is that when Ron Paul said that he wanted to eliminate 5 departments of the federal government, everyone waved their arms and started screaming about the insanity of it all.... what was reported was, for instance on the subject of social security. He said that you could not take people off of a program that they had been conditioned to and that it would take decades to eliminate social security but that was his ultimate goal. There is nothing wrong, particularly given the stigma, crime and cohesion that revolves around prostitution, to see regulations and protection from abuse by johns, pimps and traffickers alike and given the state of STD’s in our country, product safety testing as well.....
