Women, the hands of Texas are upon you

When I put up my original post on this topic, even I knew the result of the filibuster was going to be short lived. Anti abortion folks have gotten their way in another state and after Perry signs this, Texas will be another state that has used local legislation to create an alternate constitutional universe to the one the rest of America lives under.

Just as the world didn't end when Obama, or Bush for that matter, was elected, it won't end now. This is a bad bill for women, but the majority of you here cannot discuss anything BUT whether abortion is morally right or wrong. Liberals were happy when Obama won, but disappointed later. As much as I support choice for whatever reasons, the way this bill was passed and the imposing of unnecessary medical procedures on women is a bit chilling. But, that's a discussion for another day to be held with more rational and objective folks.

For today, congratulations

    1. Isn't free choice a form of freedom? No, twenty years of freedom isn't enough.

    2. Keep in mind Briand that these women are not smart enough to comprehend how babies are made nor intelligent enough to use any of the NUMEROUS forms of birth control (many of which are free). ....sarcasm off...

And that's the point Republicans want to stay focused on. They want to say, "we are not being unreasonable here" What they don't want people to focus on is that they are mandating a completely unnecessary procedure solely to make women feel guilt, it's as stupid as saying if you have an abortion you need to have a scarlet letter tattooed on you.

What Republicans don't want people focused on is that they are demanding that doctors who perform abortions have admitting privileges to a hospital within 30 miles. What if the nearest hospital says you can't have those privileges simply because they don't agree with abortion?

What Republicans don't want people focused on is that the restrictions will shutter most clinics and not simply limit abortion beyond 20 weeks.

This is not about simply stopping abortions beyond 20 weeks Brian, it's about stopping abortion period. If you agree with it, say so. Otherwise, don't treat me like a consumer of Fox news.

  2. Women who wait to have an abortion do so out of indecision not due to rape, insest, or complations. The lefs cry on these issue are EXTREMELY RARE.. a fact that refuse to admit.

The womens movement is a homosuxual movment that looks down on many women who choose being a mom over a career women. There are even straight women who look down on those of us who choose to be moms. I believe that some of them do it out of jealousy and others - out of contempt?

When I decided to go back to work after having my children and getting them into school I was meet with an attitude many female interviewers. I have to say that men did not do this a(one did). I even had 2 roll their eyes when I said that took time off work to have a family.

Motherhood is not celebrated today and that is a shame. Parenting is the most important job and you only get ONE shot at it

  3. 5 months is VERY reasonable.

Their right to an abortion has not been infringed.

It's not a law that I would have pushed for, but that being said I don't see it as unreasonable.

This, again, is the beauty and the lie of Texas Republicans. They aren't taking away your right to an abortion, there instead putting in so many restrictions that most clinics will be closed. No clinic, no abortion.

What is comical of course, is that liberals use the exact same to demand things like a background check to own a gun and conservatives react with the same outrage that I am now. But, don't concern yourself with that Live, stay in that insulated world where you suspend logic as long as the outcome is one you agree with.

  4. Why is it when you murder a pregnant woman, they charge you with double murder?

And why did Mick espouse killing 20 tear olds if their mother so chooses?
