Cities in flames after Zimmerman verdict announced

Oh, wait, that didn't happen.

  1. From New Yorker Magazine: The Zimmerman alarmists fit into a broader, increasingly popular narrative, wherein whites are the primary victims of racism. It’s not solely a matter of historical revisionism—it’s also contemporary revisionism, reflecting a skewed perspective on the events in Sanford, Florida, and what followed them. Thousands of people gathered without hostility in cities across the country last year to ask that Zimmerman be arrested, and that the justice system be given a real chance to work. They sought legal redress, not bloodletting.

    1. That sounds good, but since your source involves a fancy pants magazine from the land of latte liberals, you can't possibly expect to be taken seriously here. In some ways, Zimmerman getting off without riots erupting is actually a bit of a losing situation. There are of course many who cheered and you can read scores of comments across the web today that are barely one step removed from saying the world is a better place cause that nigger's dead. On the other hand, I personally believe that many people accept the legal outcome of this case but nonetheless feel that Zimmerman's story was complete bullshit.

Had Zimmerman been convicted, the white outrage at uppity niggers gloating like Mark Omara would have been off the charts. Now, that "justice" has been served, the white trash losers of the world need to go and find as many stories as they can of violence committed by black people so they can keep yelling, "SEE, SEE WHAT THESE BLACK ANIMALS DO TO US?!?!?!?!"

    2. Max,

The use of that vile term was hardly necessary, dramatic effect be damned. The fact that the world has far too many people who think and feel that way is not exactly a revelation, yes?

So we should ignore that we have people who still think this way?

  2. Videos of rioting in Miami began circulating quickly after last night’s not guilty verdict in the George Zimmerman murder trial. But there was no riot in Miami.

The conservative media were beating the riot drum all week. Fox News host Bill O’Reilly asked his guests if a not guilty verdict would trigger rioting. The conservative Washington Times polled its readers, and 74% said there would be riots. The self-styled National Liberty Foundation offered a how-to-survive the riots post that includes a potpourri of conspiracy theories about the Department of Justice, New Black Panther Party, and Russian troops being brought into the U.S. to put whites in FEMA camps.

    1. Mick,

There were pleas to remain calm and avoid violence from many sources in the days leading up to the jury deliberation. Is that part of the beating of the riot drum also?

I'm curious about these films of rioting and violence. Were they a lie?

    2. The "Miami" riot video was actually a soccer riot which took place some where in South America. The California riots were real. Here in Florida, all the news casts and papers urged people to remain calm and accept the jury's verdict, what ever it may be. I would be interested to hear what you think it would have been like if Martin were white and Zimmerman black. How would the media coverage differed in that case Jean?

    3. Mick,

I think it would still have had the racially-motivated coverage. As far as pleas for calm go, though, I'm not sure. At the risk of sounding prejuidiced, I felt the pleas were directed at the black population, if GZ were found not guilty, as opposed to the white population (yes, I happen to think differentiating Hispanics from 'whites' is stupid) id GZ were found guilty.

I don't know how the black community would, in general, have commented in the runup to the trial.

It was a sad, tragic event. It would not have mattered to me as to who killed whom.

New Black Panther Party's Violent Rhetoric

The self-described Chief of Staff for the NBPP Kojo Kayrallah told the Daily Caller on Friday that, “Anything less than death for George Zimmerman is not justice.” Kayrallah added “praise be to God” at the mention that Zimmerman, who is on trial for Martin’s shooting, might be murdered in prison. In Spring 2012, the NBPP advocated the killing of white babies.

    Wanted: Dead or Alive

The New Black Panther Party (NBPP) called for Zimmerman's capture "dead or alive." Various members have issued death threats or have wished for Zimmerman to be killed. Attorney General Eric Holder, who was praised by a Florida police organization for his "peacemaking" intervention, has not contacted anyone in the NBPP, according to a group spokesman. The NBPP participated in anti-Zimmerman rallies beginning in March 2012.
