A student faces suspension and criminal charges because a fishing knife was found in his father's car, which he drove to school. His father, incidently, is a commercial fisherman. I noticed this story because it takes place in Clarksville, Tennessee, the town in which I was born and attended school. How we have changed, for the worse.

Incidently, I recently went on a Cruise and my pen knife, which has a 1 1/4 inch blade, was confiscated by security as I boarded the ship. Every night at dinner there were 6 inch, very sharp, steak knives on the table.
ReplyDeleteTo my mind, it has nothing to do with safety.... and everything to do with control. Unfortunately we spend so much time bickering with each other (intentionally created), we let the big prize get away... Our country.
DeleteIt's more about rules. Those in charge make up rules, which is very convenient for those carrying out their bidding, since thay no longer have to think or act based on a particular situation. All they have to do is mindlessly follow the rules. It doesn't matter is a particular rule doesn't apply, a rule is a rule. And no, Government is not the problem, we are the problem for letting ourselves be controlled.
DeleteI do agree with you on that but then again, I don't hear a lot of love for the only groups in America that seem to be rattling the can over the constitution, the bill of rights and the massive over reach of power by the executive; first by Bush and then Obama...
DeleteI got into a discussion on another forum about 'common sense' and the conclusion was that because of the lack of common values or goals for this country, it can never have common sense.
Your view of Edward Snowden... traitor, hero or somewhere in between?
