Should John McCain be arrested for aiding terrorists?

From CBS News:

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., a proponent of U.S. military action in Syria - and a vocal opponent of President Obama's Syrian policy - sneaked across the Syrian border and met with rebels there, CBS News has learned.

The trip was in the works "for weeks, if not months," Mouaz Mustafa, the executive director of the Syrian Emergency Task Force who was with McCain all day, told CBS News' Clarissa Ward. "It's something the senator has wanted to do for quite some time because he's pro-active on the subject of the U.S. being more directly involved in Syria and helping to create the necessary changes on the ground to end the conflict."

While on a trip to Turkey, McCain met with the leader of the Syrian rebels, Gen. Salem Idris, who accompanied the senator across the border at Bab Salameh and facilitated a series of meetings with assembled leaders of the Free Syrian Army.

    2. You come on, TD.

If anybody with any connection to the Obama admin pulled this stunt you'd be here posting in unparalleled outrage at the actions of this hopelessly unqualified, nauseatingly arrogant, power-mad, constitution-dodging so-called President of ours.

      Jus' sayin' ...

    3. So TD..... which side of this conflict are you on?.... Their is Assad... a front man for Iran, Russia and Hezbollah and then their are the folks he met with... aligned with and allegiance pledged to Al-Qaeda... I would suggest that if all of this is in fact in our national interest, we quit using proxies to fight our battles, roll up our sleeves and get-er dun.... but then again... perhaps not so much of it is really in our national interest except to those small government types that want overwhelming national security both within and outside of our borders....

    4. Wait, TS, are you asking for actual thought instead of stupid name calling?

    5. I'm with TheScott on this one. That mess is about as classis a situation for 'damned if you do and damned if you don't', yes?

And there's that hanging motzah ball, the Obama Ultimatum about crossing a red line, which is a slight bit off topic: makes the U. S. look rather toothless, so far, anyway. Better to have said nothing at all. Oh, wait, then there is Libya . . .

Strike that whole last paragraph. I think the best bet for the U. S. is to make the rest of the world, except us, a coalition of the willing. Fat chance of that, huh?

    6. Rand Paul Blasts McCain for Posing with "Kidnappers" in Syria

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., over the weekend took a swipe at his fellow Republican, Arizona Sen. John McCain, for his clandestine meeting last week with Syrian rebels.

"I'm very worried about getting involved in a new war in Syria," Paul said Saturday night while taking questions at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, Calif.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is "a bad guy - he is," the Kentucky senator continued, but cited al Qaeda and additional extremist groups "on the other side" as a reason to give the United States pause before engaging militarily.

"They say, 'there are some pro-Western people, and we're going to vet them,'" Paul continued. "Well, apparently we had a senator over there who had his picture taken with some kidnappers, so I don't know how good a job we're doing vetting those who are going to get the arms."
