Just for Fun

(NEWSER) – Just how popular are the golden arches? So popular that nearly half of US consumers visited them last month, according to a new study spotted by the Consumerist. The study, from the new Placed Insights service, sought to determine which businesses Americans visit most. Fast food dominates the list, but McDonald's is in a class of its own, with 49% visiting in March. Here's the top 10:
  1. McDonald's (49%)
  2. Walmart (38.8%)
  3. Subway (37.8%)
  4. Burger King (24.3%)
  5. Starbucks (23.9%)
  6. Wendy's (22.8%)
  7. Walgreens (22.7%)
  8. CVS (18.9%)
  9. Taco Bell (18.2%)
  10. Target (14.2%)
There were some other surprises further down the list as well, like GameStop coming in at No. 12 with 12.8%, or RadioShack (No. 14, 12.1%) trouncing Best Buy (No. 35). And check out Dollar Tree; the unassuming discount store is No. 18, with just more than one in 10 Americans visiting last month. The data comes from Placed's mobile users on an opt-in basis, explains the Kelsey Group, which describes it as "comScore for the offline world." The data came from 70,000 volunteers.

  1. In order for companies to make this list they must have nation wide presence. I took my son to Starbucks the other day as he had a gift card but there is no way I was going to purchase a $4.00 coffee; a Walgreens and I might have gone to Taco Bell last month - my youngest son's favorite place.

    1. The house blend at Starbucks is reasonably priced. You don't have to pay $4.

I often get the coffee at McDonalds but nothing else. They used to have great chocolate milk shakes that were a good source of caffeine when you drove long distances.I hate to eat much and drive.

All of that fast food is bad but in moderation - that is the key. I still try to avoid it but do go to fast food restaurants for my children on occasion. My downfall use to be Taco Bell - nachos with all the goo they try and pass off for cheese -- I avoid that temptation and infact will just give my kids the money and wait for them in the car...lol...

    4. Jean,
We only order at Mickey D's for a treat or are on the run. Tonight's menu is a loaded salad and homemade bread. But a Big Mac sure does sound good instead. ;-) We know you can't live off fast food and certainly don't need Micheal Bloomberg or Michelle Obama telling us what to feed our family.
