Martin Bashir, the MSNBC host who has come under fire for the controversial remarks he made about Sarah Palin, is "on vacation" and will not host his namesake afternoon program on Monday, POLITICO has learned.

Sources at the network said Bashir had been temporarily suspended from the network following graphic remarks he made last month about the former governor from Alaska. In that segment, Bashir suggested that Palin should be forced to endure slavery like conditions, including the consumption of feces.

MSNBC spokesperson Lauren Skowronski told a different story: "He’s still out on vacation," she wrote in an email. Asked multiple times when Bashir would return from vacation, Skowronski did not respond.

On Nov. 15, Bashir called Palin "a world class idiot" because she made a comparison to slavery while discussing U.S. debt to China. The host then read an excerpt from the diary of a former plantation manger who wrote of forcing one slave to "S-H-I-T" in another slave's mouth, and said "if anyone truly qualified for a dose of [such] discipline... then she would be the outstanding candidate." Bashir later apologized to Palin and to his viewers for the remarks, calling them "deeply offensive."

Last week, MSNBC ended Alec Baldwin's after suspending him for homophobic comments he made to a New York Post photographer. In an interview with the website Gothamist, Baldwin criticized MSNBC for allowing Bashir to stay on the air.

  2. Well he should go for his remarks about the punishment for Palin as far as calling her the country's resident idiot well I tend to agree that she is trending towards that position.

  3. But William Martin both the biased networks FOX and MSNBC have other personalities that probably need to go too. It's just a matter of time before they let a true feeling slip on air.

    1. Rick

Most likely one of the "biased " networks MSNBC will disappear.
The personalities are sinking the ship, the viewers aren't buying their BS.

    2. The other biased network will disappear also as it continues to move to the radical right. We are a centrist country we don't subscribe to radicalism from the left nor the right for very long.

    3. Equating Fox and MSNBC is another joke, right Rick?

      Google cable ratings.

In the ratings dept MSNBC is dropping while Fox is increasing.
I do understand that in the Liberal world up is down and down is up.
With that in mind MSNBC will soon be out of sight, right ?

    5. Rick... I use to call myself a centrist until I looked around and saw just how skewed the left have made that definition..... Someone from an independent laboratory needs to check the scales for accuracy... me thinks they are heavily tipped in one direction....

It is interesting how compromise only moves the country in one direction... More federal intrusion and more debt on those who work.

  4. Bias in TV news, you folks in this thread need to consider the term "bias"
For the left, it is "Bi" straight would be a huge mistake.
For the right the left is clearly more interested in "Ass" than it should be......

    1. The main street media had "zero" coverage of this assholes brain cramp. I hope Todd Palin gets this jerk off alone in a alley.

Liberal progressive fucking asshole: Martin Bashir.

    2. In all seriousness William, what was remotely newsworthy about this? Don't get me wrong, I have no interest in Bashir and don't feel any pain in his departure from MSNBC. Still, for the average person who does not wake up enraged everyday about politics, why would this matter?

    3. Because they vote based on the mindless rubbish they hear everyday. I know that I have my biases Max but at least I know why I have my biases... and its not from reading or listening to my favorite flavor of propaganda... Journalism, regardless of its brand, a source should be called out for lies and deceit and bias regardless of where it comes from.
