People in Colorado Springs are tired of their state Senator. As a result, they have put together a grass roots effort to recall John Morse. Out of state dollars are flowing freely into the state for both retaining and dumping Morse.
The recall has certainly become a national story, although contrary
to the insinuations of the press, the anti-recall side has benefited
significantly more from the influx of out-of-state cash and attention
than have its champions. The NRA has sunk $361,700 into its own efforts
in the state, and Americans for Prosperity is spending here too. This is
not an insignificant sum, certainly. But it pales in comparison to
progressive efforts. Michael Bloomberg has written a $350,000 check to
an anti-recall group, Taxpayers for Responsible Democracy; the entrepreneur Eli Broad has contributed $250,000; and, in total, more
than $2 million has been collected to defend the lawmakers fighting the
recall. Meanwhile, former Obama staffers are flooding into the state to
help with the ground game.
By my tally, the pro-recall coalition
is being outspent by a little under 8 to 1, adding to a structural
disadvantage that is rendered worse by the establishment’s evident
wariness of the re-callers’ tactics. “This was an interesting sword that
was given to the people of Colorado — the recall sword — and nobody
wants to go near those of us who are drawing it”. “The gun
groups are fractured” and “the Republicans don’t want anything to do
with us because they think, ‘Next they’ll recall us.’”
Should out of state dollars and politicians from out of state be allowed to influence the recall election?

Iran is the problem, has been for thirty years. No Iran, no jihad, no wars, nothing but peace.
Consider the reality of the region. Iran is the big dog, if they get nukes they'll take out Israel, jersey, you know war tactics, you cut off the head of the leader and the rest of the body dies.
Iran is the problem, has been for thirty years. When they took over the rise of the religious rulers displaced democracy, the zealots threw out the wealthy, imposed Islamic Shia rules, but they kept all the scientists and nuclear resources and the desire to purge Israel from the region.
Look at the general population, poor, look at the religious leaders, wealthy. If Iran had not turned to the jihad, there would not have been 9/11.
If Iran was returned to its people all would safe in the region.

Inflation?
A couple of note worthy quotes that may have meaning today:
"Government, is the only institution that can take a valuable commodity like paper, and make it worthless by applying ink."
Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises
"By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens."
John Maynard Keynes
Anyone notice lately the smaller sizes for the same price. The price of the everyday essentials that the core inflation index ignores. Maybe the change is what some hoped for as we settle in for 3 long years.

Global warming? No, actually we're cooling, claim scientists
A cold Arctic summer has led to a record increase in the ice cap, leading experts to predict a period of global cooling.
Major climate research centres now accept that there has been a “pause” in global warming since 1997. Photo: ALAMY
There has been a 60 per cent increase in the amount of ocean covered with ice
compared to this time last year, they equivalent of almost a million square
miles.
In a rebound from 2012's record low an unbroken ice sheet more than half the
size of Europe already stretches from the Canadian islands to Russia's
northern shores, days before the annual re-freeze is even set to begin.
The Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific has remained blocked by
pack-ice all year, forcing some ships to change their routes.
A leaked report to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
seen by the Mail on
Sunday, has led some scientists to claim that the world is heading for a
period of cooling that will not end until the middle of this century.
If correct, it would contradict computer forecasts of imminent catastrophic
warming. The news comes several years after it was predicted that the arctic
would be ice-free by 2013.

Despite the original forecasts, major climate research centres now accept that
there has been a “pause” in global warming since 1997.
The original predictions led to billions being invested in green measures to combat the effects of climate change.
The change in the predictions has led to UN's climate change's body holding a crisis meeting, and the the IPCC was due to report on the situation in October. A pre-summit meeting will be held later this month.
But leaked documents show that governments who fund the IPCC are demanding 1,500 changes to the Fifth Assessment Report - a three-volume study issued every six or seven years – as they claim its current draft does not properly explain the pause.
The extent to which temperatures will rise with carbon dioxide levels, as well as how much of the warming over the past 150 year, a total of 0.8C, is down to human greenhouse gas emissions are key issues.
The IPCC says it is “95 per cent confident” that global warming has been caused by humans - up from 90 per cent in 2007 – according to the draft report.
However, US climate expert Professor Judith Curry has questioned how this can be true as that rather than increasing in confidence, “uncertainty is getting bigger” within the academic community.
Long-term cycles in ocean temperature, she said, suggest the world may be approaching a period similar to that from 1965 to 1975, when there was a clear cooling trend.
At the time some scientists forecast an imminent ice age.
Professor Anastasios Tsonis, of the University of Wisconsin, said: 'We are already in a cooling trend, which I think will continue for the next 15 years at least. There is no doubt the warming of the 1980s and 1990s has stopped.”
The IPCC is said to maintain that their climate change models suggest a pause of 15 years can be expected. Other experts agree that natural cycles cannot explain all of the recorded warming.

Syria Update
Now Obama is talking about bombing sorties, not just cruise missiles. He is turning it into a full scale war. Putin WON'T put up with that.
Putin can declare the same thing, says that the chemical weapons use will not be tolerated and therefore the REBELS must be bombed in to oblivion.
Now we have ahole McCain stating that this is a risk-free operation! Yeah and I'm Santa Claus.
Obama is narcissistic and he is out of control. He is willing to kill people to maintain his reputation. He is PISSED at Putin about Snowdin and wants a proxy war with Putin because Obama can't spy on the entire world now. Just 80% of it.

Obama attacks the puppet, but not the puppet master... Iran, that should be the target.
Now is the time to act. We need to rid The Middle East of the only real atomic threat on this earth, Iran. If we cripple Iran's nuclear program we leverage all the little players, like Syria.
Any decent look at the region reveals that Iran is the power broker, however if the nuclear program is crippled, for say a decade, the wealthy Iranians that fled the country years ago would finance an effort to denounce the state as a religious theocracy and return it to a democracy, capable of making peace with Israel and becoming the glue that cements all the rogue nations into a viable economic force again.
If, if Obama wants to have a legacy, a sneak attack on the Iranians nuke program, coordinated with leveraging Syria, which is an Iranian puppet anyway, and we could bring stability to the region, sweep out the threat of the Muslim brotherhood and return the region to prosperity.
As long as we allow Iran to lead the region as a pseudo quasi religious oligarchy, and we allow then to leverage the nuke option, we will fail.
Iran needs to be the focus of ALL.... ALL of our pressure, F Syria, take down Iran and the region will take care of itself.

Syria Attack Gains Support
This from Yahoo! News, Sept. 3, 2013
House Speaker John Boehner plans to vote to approve a measure authorizing U.S. military action against Syria, the Ohio Republican said after a meeting with President Barack Obama in the White House Tuesday.
“This is something that the United States and the country need to do. I’m going to support the president’s call for action,” Boehner said after the meeting with the president and other congressional leaders. "I believe that my colleagues should support this call for action."
In response to reports showing what the United States says is strong evidence that the Syrian government was responsible for a chemical attack that killed more than 1,000 civilians in August, Obama on Saturday said he would seek approval for a “limited” military strike in the region.
In a statement Tuesday, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor also said he would support Obama's call for action.
"I intend to vote to provide the President of the United States the option to use military force in Syria," Cantor said. "While the authorizing language will likely change, the underlying reality will not. America has a compelling national security interest to prevent and respond to the use of weapons of mass destruction, especially by a terrorist state such as Syria, and to prevent further instability in a region of vital interest to the United States."

Harvard Research Shows 'Guns Don't Kill People, People Kill People'
In an inconvenient truth moment for the anti-gun lobby,Harvard's Don Kates and Gary Mauser expose the facts behind gun control and violent crime. While not the first time we have discussed this awkward reality, the depth of the academics' datasets and the findings are unquestionable that there is in fact a "negative correlation" between violence and gun ownership. As they state, "where firearms are most dense violent crime rates are lowest, and where guns are least dense violent crime rates are highest,"concluding that "The burden of proof rests on the proponents of the more guns equal more death and fewer guns equal less death mantra, especially since they argue public policy ought to be based on that mantra... But those correlations are not observed when a large number of nations are compared across the world."
There is in fact a negative correlation...
The same pattern appears when comparisons of violence to gun ownership are made within nations. Indeed, “data on firearms ownership by constabulary area in England,” like datafrom the United States, show “a negative correlation,” that is, “where firearms are most dense violent crime rates are lowest, and where guns are least dense violent crime rates are highest.”Many different data sets from various kinds of sources are summarized as follows by the leading text: [T]here is no consistent significant positive association between gun ownership levels and violence rates: across (1) time within the United States, (2) U.S. cities, (3) counties within Illinois, (4) country?sized areas like England, U.S. states, (5) regions of the United States, (6) nations, or (7) population subgroups...
The burden of proof rests on the proponents of the more guns equal more death and fewer guns equal less death mantra, especially since they argue public policy ought to be based on that mantra.
To bear that burden would at the very least require showing that a large number of nations with more guns have more death and that nations that have imposed stringent gun controls have achieved substantial reductions in criminal violence (or suicide). But those correlations are not observed when a large number of nations are compared across the world.
CITING OBAMACARE, 40,000 LONGSHOREMEN QUIT THE AFL-CIO
In what is being reported as a surprise move, the 40,000 members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) announced that they have formally ended their association with the AFL-CIO, one of the nation's largest private sector unions. The Longshoremen citied Obamacare and immigration reform as two important causes of their disaffiliation.
In an August 29 letter to AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, ILWU President Robert McEllrath cited quite a list of grievances as reasons for the disillusion of their affiliation, but prominent among them was the AFL-CIO's support of Obamare.
"We feel the Federation has done a great disservice to the labor movement and all working people by going along to get along," McEllrath wrote in the letter to Trumka.
The ILWU President made it clear they are for a single-payer, nationalized healthcare policy and are upset with the AFL-CIO for going along with Obama on the confiscatory tax on their "Cadillac" healthcare plan.
The Longshoreman leader said, "President Obama ran on a platform that he would not tax medical plans and at the 2009 AFL-CIO Convention, you stated that labor would not stand for a tax on our benefits." But, regardless of that promise, the President has pushed for just such a tax and Trumka and the AFL-CIO bowed to political pressure lining up behind Obama's tax on those plans.
McEllrath also went on to say that they support stronger immigration reform than the AFL-CIO is supporting.
One ILWU committeeman was even harsher on both the AFL-CIO and the President. ILWU Coast Committeeman Leal Sundet criticized the AFL-CIO telling LaborNotes.comthat Trumka was marching "in lockstep" with Obama both on the "Cadillac healthcare tax" as well as immigration.
Sundet slammed Obama's immigration plan saying it is "designed to give [only] highly-paid workers a real path to citizenship."
Private sector unions have fallen to an all time low participation rate in the US workforce. Unionized workers now account for only 11.3 percent of the US workforce.
