Armed and Dangerous?

This from Bloomberg Politics: No data was cited for Democratic candidates.

Mike Huckabee owns several assault rifles, Donald Trump is packing a handgun, and Jeb Bush — well, Jeb Bush goes empty handed. That's unusual for a GOP candidate; The Telegraph reports that of the 17 Republicans running for president, only Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina join Jeb Bush as unarmed.

Fiorina, at the very least, has an excuse: "My husband is the gun owner in our house," she has previously said, citing six guns in her household — though none belong to her personally. Christie, however, has a decidedly less rosy history with gun owners: He earned a C grade from the NRA for butting heads with the gun lobby.

Bush, who has an A+ rating from the NRA, "has the strongest record of defending the Second Amendment in the entire presidential field," according to a spokeswoman. That being said, some gun rights activists expressed their suspicion to The Telegraph: "That he doesn't even own a gun for his own protection strikes me as somewhat disconnected from the reality that many Americans face," Larry Pratt, the executive director of Gun Owners of America, said.

About one in three Americans own guns, according to a recent survey. By comparison, about 82 percent of Republican presidential candidates own guns. Jeva Lange

  1. Damn, I don't want to work on the stupid presentation I have to create today.

This sorta ties in to a point I made a couple of days ago that was predictably dismissed. In that point, I opined that eventually, I believe Trump is going to be put into an uncomfortable position of having to sever ties with his empire. It was pointed out that their are no rules stating that he must divest himself. Lou's and TS's comments told me what I needed to know, which is that this will only be an issue to those who don't support him. Fair enough.

So, here we have kind of the right version of my distorted liberal thinking. The second amendment ensures freedom to own a personal arsenal, but it does not require you to own said arsenal. In the opinion of some Republican voters, however, to not own a firearm is basically the same thing as not supporting the second amendment. Bush, in this case, is not in violation of the constitution, but he is in violation of the conscience of some voters for simply not having a gun. Stupid as it may be to judge a candidate on a perceived ethical incongruity, it happens all the time.

Join the NRA,no need for a presentation, they all have the tell tale signs., running sores which spread like crazy and always at their worst when in a tightly packed group. Strep and Staph used to be the causative organisms thirty years ago but now perhaps abject terror would bring it on. A referendum on gun control could serve as a prophylactic.

    3. William where's the press when you need them???

According to a New York Times article published in June 1927, a man with the name and address of Donald Trump's father was arraigned after Klan members attacked cops in Queens, N.Y.

In an article subtitled "Klan assails policeman", Fred Trump is named in among those taken in during a late May "battle" in which "1,000 Klansmen and 100 policemen staged a free-for-all." At least two officers were hurt during the event, after which the Klan's activities were denounced by the city's Police Commissioner, Joseph A. Warren.

“The Klan not only wore gowns, but had hoods over their faces almost completely hiding their identity,” Warren was quoted as saying in the article, which goes on to identify seven men “arrested in the near-riot of the parade.”

Named alongside Trump are John E Kapp and John Marcy (charged with felonious assault in the attack on Patrolman William O'Neill and Sgt. William Lockyear), Fred Lyons, Thomas Caroll, Thomas Erwin, and Harry J Free. They were arraigned in Jamaica, N.Y. All seven were represented by the same lawyers, according to the article.

The final entry on the list reads: “Fred Trump of 175-24 Devonshire Road, Jamaica, was discharged.”

In 1927, Donald Trump's father would have been 21 years old, and not yet a well-known figure. Multiple sources report his residence at the time—and throughout his life—at the same address.

Did Donald ever have a dog on his roof going on vacation???

Thanks for the reference. The man is now sounding more like a politician every day. If I run and if I am elected” Personal pronoun to the fore as usual.” The president and his advisors are incompetent(paraphrase a little perhaps) but you get my meaning. Mexico and the jobs and Mexico and the illegals. Japan and China devaluing their currency. Does the Thumper consider he has the right to dictate to sovereign nations how they should run their economies? Silly question because of course he does., As I said previously, can you image this man in Air Force one with the nuclear trigger at his side? A country on the far side of the world reaches for a handkerchief and the Thumper presses the button and says, your fired.
      LOU Good post well researched,.

No I do not neglect Putin.
Putin is a politician and has political advisors at his side at all times. He would only push the button after a political meeting. The Thumper with an ego bigger than the Capital building would never ask advice as he strove for his moment in the sun. People such as Trump have no regard for the consequences of their actions. This is what makes Trump such a loose cannon in this presidential contest.

    7. What a joke. Trump runs a multi billion dollar corporation. He employs thousands. Obviously you've bought into the leftest hype, the same sort of tripe that leveled Sarah Palin and countless other good people who try take a difference.

Trump is a showman who will use anything at his disposal to accomplish something once he commits himself to the task. He is as transparent as the day is long. Contrast this with our current president or HRC who are expert at back room side deals, and obscuring the tiniest details of executive actions.

Trump is a natural promoter but he is anything but a politician. Currently builder Trump and Dr. Carson together have over 50% in polling in the third primary State of South Carolina.

I don't know how it works in your country. But here people are saying something in one loud clear voice. Trump and Carson have tapped into that longing. Read what's on Mr. Trumps baseball cap. Does any other candidate even have a recognizable campaign slogan?

Dump the thumper and go with Carson. Here in Australia Carson is barely recognized, when he is, it is with good will and approval.
Trump is recognized by over 80 percent of our people and at least seventy percent of them consider him a clown..

    12. LOL, saying it doesn't make it so does it.

And anyway, who cares anyway, what difference does it make.

Here's something for you that's more interesting:

The Mexican government itself has both a federal–state cooperation program and a “show me your papers” provision. Mexican federal, state, and local authorities are required to ask for evidence of legal immigration status from foreigners, and cooperation between federal police and immigration authorities is mandatory. Still, Mexico formally joined the U.S. Department of Justice in challenging SB-1070, the “show me your papers” provision and all, right up to the U.S. Supreme Court — in effect, pitting the United States and Mexico against Arizona. Noting the double standard, an adviser to former Mexican president Vicente Fox, Fredo Arias-King, recently stated that Mexican elites love having open borders with the United States, as this allows them to get rid of their poor and uneducated and relieves them from making much-needed domestic reforms. The Mexican government also launched a PR campaign against SB-1070, which included trotting out charges of “racial discrimination.” That most travel-weary of accusations also featured prominently throughout this latest court case. The open-borders attorneys had actually subpoenaed my employer, the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI), for e-mails between us and Arizona state officials in an attempt to show “discriminatory intent” behind the law (if such intent were found, it could overturn a law completely).

  2. You assume Trump will be the nominee.

That may lead to several things.
    1. The lowest turnout ever in an election.
    2. The possibility that a 3rd party will emerge from the swamp.
    3. A sure win for any democrat living or not.

My advise, do something creative today, skip the presentation, go fishing, look for a desert tortoise.

Guess I'm in violation of the constitution and need to be incarcerated as I really don't have a use for a gun. Don't hunt, don't target practice even though I did have a need while in the service.

Maybe I can get an exemption as a former user.

    1. Believe me, looking for a dessert tortoise would be much more satisfying that making this presentation on impetigo. Especially considering that envirowhacko's here have succeeded in getting protected land for the desert tortoises! I'd probably have more luck finding sources for my presentation than finding the turtle.

Sigh, gotta quit playing around. I pretty much gotta have the presentation posted today cause I have clinic tomorrow. Maybe I'll post a link of it here! Who knows, that knowledge might serve all of us well when we are on the run trying to avoid re-education camps.

As my in-laws are ultra left wing, they insisted I attend a re-education camp and I failed. Will I need to attend again or until I pass?

    6. Funny thing is, I don't own a cell phone. Daughter away at college does have a cell phone as they no longer have pay phones in the dorm/apartments.

One of the companies do work for on occasion wants to give me a phone and free cell service. Still deciding if I want the aggravation.

    7. I have a plain cell phone which I carry with me when I'm driving alone, in case I have car trouble. The nice thing is, I turn it off so I won't be disturbed, otherwise I would't have it.
