  1. DALLAS -- Witnesses say a 71-year-old man used self defense when he shot a man who was trying to rob his wife outside a grocery store Tuesday night.

    Around 7:20 p.m. on Oct. 28, police were called to the Aldi Grocery Store at 3128 Forest Lane. While husband Ronnie Lummus and his wife were leaving the store, 36-year-old Mike Angel Carmillio approached them and grabbed a necklace off the woman's neck.

    A 71-year-old man shot a robber who had attacked his wife Tuesday night. The case will be sent to a grand jury.

    Police say Carmillio then reportedly knocked the woman to the ground and attempted to rob her.



    The son of a convenience store worker turned the tables on a shotgun-wielding thug, shooting and killing the man during an attempted holdup in Texas, authorities said.

    Usman Seth, 20, was working at his family's store in southeast Houston at around 10 p.m. Friday when the masked gunman barged in and demanded cash from the register, Click2Houston.com reported.

    Seth said the man threatened to shoot his sister.

    Amid the frenzy, his father handed him a 9-mm. pistol they kept for protection.

    "He was saying, 'Give me all of your money or I will kill you all," Seth told the station.

    "My sister yelled …'Save me.' My dad gave me the gun and said, 'Save us.' So I just started shooting at him," Seth said.

    "I was worried about my sister and my dad's lives. That was the main thing on my mind, I got to save them," he said.

    Seth said he wounded the robber in the leg, but that didn't stop the assault.

    "I told him, 'Drop your gun, I won't do nothing to you,'" he told Click2Houston."He was not listening, he kept trying to shoot at us," he said.
    Seth shot the man several more times, eventually dropping him against a soda case at the back of the store.
