Clint Eastwood at 84...Preparing To Say Good-Bye

My Twilight Years at 84. ...
If you realize each day is a gift, you may be near my age. As I enjoy my twilight years, I am often struck by the inevitability that the party must end. There will be a clear, cold morning when there isn't any "more." No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat. It seems to me that one of the important things to do before that morning comes, is to let every one of your family and friends know that you care for them by finding simple ways to let them know your heartfelt beliefs and the guiding principles of your life so they can always say, "He was my friend, and I know where he stood."
So, just in case I'm gone tomorrow, please know this: I voted against that incompetent, lying, flip-flopping, insincere, double-talking, radical socialist, terrorist excusing, bleeding heart, narcissistic, scientific and economic moron currently in the White House! Participating in a gun buy-back program because you think that criminals have too many guns is like having yourself castrated because you think your neighbors have too many kids.
Regards, Clint
Make my day—Pass it on!

  1. It's a shame that a guy who has had so much is so flipping bitter.

    1. Hey... I helped make the Eagles quite well off in their own right... I even continue to buy their music, even though I know that 3/4ths of the tracks are their version of Clint's rant.

    2. I applaud that rare break in consistency TS. Clint Eastwood may be a crabby old coot, but I'd still see his movies. As an aside, I went to see Ted Nugent in the early aught's and it was actually a good show. On some level, it was comical because he literally told the audience how great he was during the show and he was wearing a Ted Nugent T shirt. No matter what I think of his political views, he has a place in Rock and Roll history that I don't dispute. I don't think I would go see him anymore because when I go to a concert, I want to hear music.

    3. Funny how you hear some music you haven't heard in a while that you use to love and listen to it and scratch your head with wonder about your earlier tastes..

    4. I feel that way about things I read in my early 20's LOL

    5. While time and experience can certainly change perspective... America is driven by fad and impulsivity guided by squeaky wheels and spring fashion designers... it’s easy to lose focus ;-)

  3. Who the hell is Clint Eastwood? Is this some kind of American identity from the entertainment of perhaps Legal fraternity in need of publicity. I think he must have a little brain damage, his first paragraph is lucid and apparently sincere. The second, a rant one would expect from a third grade political hanger on in a defeated party. The only good thing, he is apparently over 80 years of age so one would tend to agree there will quite soon come a cold bleak morning when the "Big Black" will overtake his bitterness

    Cheers from Aussie

    1. The left still write hit pieces about Charlton Heston when he called the police in America ‘Jack booted thugs’.... I assume that was because he was president of the NRA and not because of the accuracy of the statement... because I’m not hearing a lot of love for policing in America by the black population or all the people who get their doors kicked in by police performing a warrantless search or the many uncharged people who have become victims of Asset Forfeiture... or the pets killed because the cops kicked in the wrong door. (I threw in that last one because it seems that people have developed empathy for lives of helpless animals more than unborn children).

But it is of course perfectly acceptable for people like actress Gwyneth Paltrow, a far left wing activist to hold a fund raiser for Obama where she introduced him by gushing: "I am one of your biggest fans, if not the biggest..You are so handsome I can’t speak properly..." "It would be wonderful if we were able to give this man all of the power he needs to pass the things he needs to pass."

  4. King he is an American actor with many notable movies. But you know during the 2012 Republican convention he spent 11 and 1/2 minutes talking to an empty chair. He's 84 and has no political clout left. maybe a bit senile in his old age.

  5. Thank you all for the comments. I now remember a dark somber man ,poorly lit, making some kind of action movie. Someone provoked his character and the phrase "Go ahead make my day" sticks in my mind. Of course the character held a bloody great gun when he so bravely uttered the words. I also remember the empty chair episode, it made TV news here.
TS above makes a good point or so in a refreshingly brief post. I am wondering if there should be a moratorium on actors and so forth pontificating on political subjects. Perhaps the problem there would be that they are so similar to the Politicians, both live in the world of fantasy.
I note TS is concerned that debate concerning freedom of speech continues. Amen to that, the more effort, world wide that is expended in that area of our culture the better. I wonder however do we have a responsibility as well as a right in the free speech area? Should we not moderate our conduct so that all sides are given a fair hearing? Does it help the cause if we put labels on just about everyone with whom we disagree?. I am guilty of this at times, William gets up my nose often with comments which have no meaning and take up space which could well be used more productively.

I am still waiting for the beginning of structured debate which will demonstrate true leadership potential from either side. Am I being unfair when I say that to date I have seen no evidence of anything other than character assassination, mostly from within the party of the candidate by his/her opponents.

As an aside, I have finally understood a concept that third graders in America have known since they were first graders. Success at a national level of politics is dependant on compromise. Rick and Louman have pushed me to this understanding over the years. I have been slow to follow the trail but suddenly your system is becoming less confusing. Here in Australia we have seen a vicious fight between the Conservative National government and the Left wing opposition about the Australian China free trade deal. Eventually a degree of bi partisanship emerged and the bill is now assured of a smooth passage through the parliament. The point here is that we have just the two major parties to run the show. America divides the power three ways, all designed to be of equal value. It makes sense to compromise under such circumstances surely.

I don't believe I have ever actually heard a political debate where the questions were pertinent, debate format was followed or the moderator didn't enter the production with a winner in mind.. The closest that I ever saw was Ross Perot in his infomercials... Whether you agreed with his process or not, he at least explained his motives and where he got his figures.

    2. King we also have two major parties. One at present has a strong enough block of radicals that we can get no compromise on anything. That is what is going on with our speaker of the house position. No one really wants it because that block of radicals are setting impossible rules to run the body. Things like no bill can be brought for a vote unless all members of the party agree, known as the Hastert Rule. Calling anybody who would deal with the democrats a RINO and running them out of office. A my way or no way attitude about just about everything. That's why our two party system isn't working exactly like yours. It use to and America consistently moved forward. One day these people might open their eyes and see that they are the real problem.
