What's going on in Mexico

If the media actually showed what was going on there, American's would be scared to death. There would be immediate demands to lock down the border. Instead, Narcos are flooding our country and setting up in every major city. Then their money and bribes will corrupt local officials and there will be bloody street wars just like in Mexico. The brutality is amazing. They eagerly cut the heads off their living victims. If American's knew, they would arm themselves to the teeth. You local police won't protect you just like they don't protect Mexican citizens. You did know that all of most of these murders in Chicago involve Mexican gangs fighting for territory? Meanwhile, Obama has left the border WIDE OPEN.

The dark side is one no one wants to discuss. IMO this is one of the most destructive vices of any society whether they are legal or illegal.

    1. Angie,
I agree but if drugs were legal, the violence associated with drugs would go down dramatically. Look at Prohibition and the "gangs of the the day", a.k.a. the mob. In conjunction with making drugs legal, I would also not allow anyone onto public assistance without a drug screening (just like you must pass to GET A JOB) and any crime commited under the influence doubles the sentence for anyone convicted. We lost our right to machine guns due to the mobsters shooting themselves up under the governments denial of the access to alcohol and now the gang bangers are raising the gun murder rate for protecting their turf to control and sell drugs, while the pols are looking to curtail law abiding citizens from owning them.

    2. A limit on public assistance? Good Luck with that, they will all cream racism.

In 1987 Swiss officials permitted drug use and sales in a Zurich park, which was soon dubbed Needle Park, and Switzerland became a magnet for drug users the world over. Within five years, the number of regular drug users at the park had reportedly swelled from a few hundred to 20,000.

The area around the park became crime-ridden to the point that the park had to be shut down and the experiment terminated.

The notion that if they were made legal everything will be all right is a fallacy. Drugs are departmental to families and society as a whole. To go into all the ways drugs destroy is too time consuming.

    4. I have no doubt that drugs destroy lives and families just to make my position clear. My problem is that we should not be locking up people for a bag of dope in their pocket and giving them three hots and a cot on our taxpayer dime. Futhermore, the liberals never state the obvious while trying to disarm honest law abiding citizens that most of the gun violence is caused by inner city youths (young black and latino males) dealing drugs.

My overall point on the war on drugs was to liken it to Prohibition which was a war on booze. Booze also destroys lives and families, but making it illegal leads to more illegal activity. If a joint could be bought legally next to cigarettes and liquor, many of the violent gang crimes would be eliminated and our prisons wouldn't be busting at the seams. I don't believe that the government should interfere in my life with what I do within my home. If I want to drink a beer at the end of the day and someone else wants to smoke a joint, that IMHO is non of my business up to the point one of us does something to interfere with another's rights. Then it becomes a law enforcement issue.

    5. IMO one cannot compare drugs - even pot - to prohibition due to the damage it causes. People I have know who have done drugs - pot - are not mentally in the same boat as others. Now I have known some hard workers who would get stoned time to time BUT mentally they are not on the same playing field as those who have not. In addition their children are FAR more likely to have learning problems. Who takes care of these mildly retarded children? In addition pot IS a gateway drug to very dangerous drugs.
