and they still hate us!!!!
But on the other hand,
Our retired seniors,
Living on a 'fixed income,'
Receive NO aid!
Nor do they get any breaks, while our government
And religious organizations will pour
Hundreds of Billions Of $$$$$$'s
and Tons of Food to Foreign Countries!
Someone needs to explain to them that
Charity begins AT HOME!!!
And another atrocity....
We have Hundreds of adoptable
American Children who are shoved aside to make room for
The adoption of Foreign orphans.
AMERICA: A country where we have
Countless Homeless without shelter,
Children going to bed hungry,
Elderly going without needed medication
and the Mentally ill without treatment -- etc.
YET..........
They will have a 'Benefit' Show
For the people of Haiti , on 12 TV Stations;
Ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents
clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.
Now Just Imagine if
Our own *GOVERNMENT*
Gave 'US' the same support they give to foreign countries.
Sad, isn't it?

Actually, it is sad.
ReplyDeletePrisoners get 3 meals a day, daily showers, daily exercise, health care, television, 24 hour security/video surveillance, clean facilities, and a warm, clean bed all paid for by the taxpayers.
ReplyDeleteElderly folks in assisted living facilities get one meal a day, 2 baths/showers a week, spotty security, little surveillance, abusive caretakers, dirty facilities, subpar healthcare, and get to pay $4000-$6000 a month in rent.
Maybe we should put our elderly loved ones in prison?
We probably should. We have well over 2 million people in jail in this country and we have the highest per capita of incarceration in the world. We aren't lowering crime so we might as well just accept our prison system for what it is, namely a place to shove poor people.
Deletepfunky,
DeleteAren't you taking the extremes from both environments in your comparison?
Jean
Max,
DeleteAre you suggesting many people are forced into a life of crime simply because they're poor?
Jean
Jean, the wording of your question asks me to accept a black or white premise that many poor people in jail are "forced" into crime because they are poor. I don't accept that. Our prison system is chock full of people who don't have resources which affects everything from their level of education, to their ability to find a decent job to the legal representation they receive when they enter the judicial system. I don't consider them victims, if that is what you are asking.
DeleteMax,
DeleteNo, I didn't intend for you to accept a premise. You answered my question, and I don't disagree with you and your explanation.
Thank you.
Jean
@Jean
DeleteYeah. I was exaggerating to make a point I thought relevant to the thread topic.
