The U.S. Labor Department on Monday said it hasn’t made a decision yet on whether to delay Friday’s October jobs report, the final reading on the labor market before next week’s federal elections.
A Labor official said the agency will assess the schedule for all its data releases this week when the “weather emergency” is over.
Labor is scheduled to release the employment report on Friday, third quarter employment costs on Wednesday and weekly jobless claims on Thursday.
The U.S. Census Bureau also said it hasn’t made a decision on whether to delay economic reports it plans to release this week, including construction spending on Thursday and factory orders on Friday.

This is just another reason to dump Obama and the Dem spin machine in charge. The US embassy attack was disgraceful, the lies being told by team Obama grow like Pinocchio's nose every day. I want a government that plays by the rules, meets it scheduled obligations and isn't controlled by the White House, but all three, the House, the Senate and the White House. Data is not political, facts are not items to be manipulted by politicians. The reign of the MSM and the spin ends next week.

With or without the excuse of weather I've long expected the administration's suppression of certain "reports" ahead of the election. It would be terrible to debunk and expose the sham of the previously released numbers so a bit of Axelgrease to lube up a bent forward anticipatory public is obligatory.

ReplyDeleteIt is sometimes hard to understand why anyone would enter politics knowing full well he/she would have to endure the vitriol we pour on them. It appears that while we try to behave decently towards our neighbors, Politicians are there for the reception of cheap shots. We of course feel no shame as we pile in.

DeleteYour comments reflect a view of conservatism that no longer exists in this country. The left in this country is not by any means a bastion of decency and in recent weeks, I have had to stop watching them on TV as well. Regardless of who wins next week, the bitterness that has become the foundation of everything political in this country is not going to change. Because of our bitterness, I think we have reached a point where it is not possible to elect the kind of person that could address such an an issue. Our new litmus test seems to be who is the biggest asshole.

DeleteWhile I hesitate to preemptively accuse the administration for any influence on delaying the BLS or the Census Bureau, I am a bit skeptical and cynical. We'll see soon enough. I'll just add that seven weeks after the Libya tragedy, SEVEN WEEKS, nothing has come out of the administration that has exonerated them, as far as I am concerned, from bungling imcompetence, at the least. I say that because if the pathetic conflicting statements were nothing more than internal misinformation, not a single action has yet to be taken, i.e., not heads have rolled. And that is the best possible spin that could be taken. I'm being kind, I think, by allowing for the possibility that taking military action during the attacks may not have been the optimum course.

ReplyDeleteI think I detect a cry of desperation in your posts concerning the leadership of your country. Perhaps it is the sense of the occasion when you are looking for a direction and none is forthcoming.
Being an old codger I tend to look backwards; the future is indeed limited and there is only one destination! Remember Harry S Truman and the sign on his desk "The Buck Stops Here". Well it seems to me that anyone who has the courage to take on the job with that sign on his desk has a future place in history.
Perhaps it is not the man with the biggest fundament you are looking for but the bloke with the thickest hide, the man who can do what is right notwithstanding the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" which will be directed at him by TD and others. These blokes by the way are fine fellows until they see the red rag of leftist political opinion in front of them. I wonder is it fear which causes them to react as they do?
I think I can attach similar labels to those favoring the persuasion of the left; they too can become irrational if goaded by the right. What is needed here is that elusive commodity, bi partisanship, a hand across the aisle and a word in the corridors of power. It matters not from whence the good idea originates, a journey is incomplete until the traveler reaches the destination

My desperation is aimed less at leadership and more at the people who choose those leaders. As you have seen on this site, there are quite a few who will be headed to the polls full of vitriolic anger. I'm not particularly happy with what Obama has done as I feel he has continued many failed policies and ideas of those who came before him. But as I've said countless times, what bothers me more is the endless stream of bullshit that is being sprayed by many who oppose him. Few people in this country will call that garbage out for what it is. And as you have seen here, the attitude is that winning is so important, any means that accomplishes that goal is justified. We choose the biggest jerk because we act like jerks individually and take that attitude with us into the booth.
DeleteSurely, there are plenty of better potential leaders in this country than Obama and Romney. They won't, however, be allowed to participate. I would not vote for Ron Paul, but I don't deny he speaks an enormous amount of truth. The same goes for several left of center candidates. What keeps them off the ticket is money. For decades now, we have been seeing a continuous decline of our middle class, and yet, the middle class can't bear to stop voting against their best economic interests. Once you get past the hatred questions and ask what Romney really has planned, there is no answer, just a continuous, "Obama sucks" and anything is better no matter what it is.
More then anything, I consider myself utilitarian, which most on this board won't see as being any different from communist. When we had a strong middle class, this country thrived. When we decided to sell that strength to the highest bidder, we put ourselves where we are today. Neither candidate has a plan for that or seemingly even a desire to fix it.

I agree, a leader who can reach across, as well as prod and poke his side of the aisle, is needed. That is one of many shortcomings our farce of a president has either been incapable of doing, or else refused to do. Even if my assessment of this person is erroneous, he had his turn, and we think he needs to be sent home.

DeleteThat Obama is chided for not reaching across the aisle is garbage. That he has not been able to prod his own party is somewhat accurate. If you are calling out Obama and believing to yourself Jean that Republicans are somehow different, you are not very bright. Both parties, and more accurately their financial backers, have drawn a line in the sand and made it clear to the American people that they no longer matter in the process. When you talk about Obama, you sound just like the people who voted for hope and change and "NOT BUSH". Hope you enjoy the absolute failure that will happen if Romney wins.
