If you are asking me if I'm willing to pay 1-2% more in taxes while we remove the cap, I'll take that.

Are you willing to live with the impact on jobs?
Raise the tax 1-2% and the employer pays 1-2% more.
Eliminate the cap, the employer matches the cap.
Government acts, business reacts.

The reality is that we have allowed foreign companies to import goods that cost less than American manufactured goods. What should the US company do? Should they leave their prices higher to reflect their costs plus profits until they go out of business ans Americans buy cheap not American made? In 1950, the foreign competition issue was non existent. That is not today's' reality.

And yes, I would pay higher taxes to do so. I would say you are not the average American. Think those paying no Federal Income Tax would all be willing to a pay a 5% across the board income tax increase to fund the freebies? The impact to those paying today would not be a big deal. Those paying nothing would howl at the moon. Consider this. I saved money 10 years before my daughter was born and at the time had no inclination for having a child in my life. Today her education is paid for because I planned. I have always lived below my means and still don;t need or want the latest and greatest. I'm not a great consumer. Why should I who worked hard, planned for her future support the grasshoppers of American society?

The premise is not false.
People making up to 400% of poverty level are subsidized by taxpayers. In some cases they subsidize themselves through the ACA hidden middle class taxes. Millions more collect free medicaid, millions cannot afford their deductibles. The facade of free, physicals, mammograms, immunizations, colonoscopies, etc. are all added to the premiums of those paying and in return get the warm fuzzy feeling of FREEE. The ACA is a broken law and needs to be enforced like our immigration laws.
Government: If you don't like it don't enforce it of fund it.

loumanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04882146154150499756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4066062120776667625.post-26505587514971796052015-07-16T08:29:46.236-07:002015-07-16T08:29:46.236-07:00"Are you willing to increase your medicare, S..."Are you willing to increase your medicare, SS taxes and contributions?"
This is basically a question that really only reflects those who max out. If you are asking me if I'm willing to pay 1-2% more in taxes while we remove the cap, I'll take that.

Are you willing to pay a 10% national sales tax?
Are you aware that corporations increase prices with increased taxes?
Are you aware that corporations would likely off shore more to compensate for higher costs.

Corporations will do anything they can to protect profit. Period. They also will not pay the full tax rate just as they don't now and they will continue to offshore any job that they can. We could have no taxes and unless American's worked for 30 cents a hour, they would still off shore jobs. I respectfully remain a relativist on these questions Lou while I believe you portray them as black and white.

"Would you be willing to pay a higher state sales tax to fund mandatory pre school. Higher state income/sales tax to pay for FREEE college."

If you ask this question of the older generation, many of whom had good paying factory jobs with union benefits or who came of age at a time when you could leave high school and find a job without too much difficulty, the answer is likely to be no. Ask younger people today who are saddled with ridiculous debt at ridiculous interest rates, it may be different. I never had kids and still believe it is in my best interest to provide an accessible education system for other people who have kids. And yes, I would pay higher taxes to do so.

Your wrap up there is kind of what I consider a false premise. I don't see it as free at all. What I do see the ACA as is redistribution of risk pools. Insurance companies have a better spread of healthy versus sick, the taxpayer has chronically ill seniors. no matter what arrangement we have, we are going to spend trillions of dollars a year on our health care. The current private profit setup we have is a false reality Max Yasgurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02816449822816423030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4066062120776667625.post-54805963077925088292015-07-16T08:27:34.681-07:002015-07-16T08:27:34.681-07:00There is no true socialist or capitalist countries...There is no true socialist or capitalist countries today. The ACA is a perfect example, let some one else pay for it, I'm middle class. Tell America everyone has to pay for it and see your percentages fall through the floor.
loumanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04882146154150499756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4066062120776667625.post-49609292435616931122015-07-15T08:09:49.878-07:002015-07-15T08:09:49.878-07:00We are all ready a socialist country. We are all ready a socialist country.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12064694227628006142noreply@blogger.com
