I chose what's best for the country not a party.

The point is the UN is useless. What's their function? Have they taken a stand on ISIS? The Ukraine? Anything in the world?

Just so we are on the same page, We cannot fix anything in the world as proven in Vietnam which should have been a great lesson for the politicians. loumanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04882146154150499756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4066062120776667625.post-44640836555450840852015-09-25T10:43:16.256-07:002015-09-25T10:43:16.256-07:00A quagmire the middle east has been since the dawn...A quagmire the middle east has been since the dawn of recorded history, a fucking nightmare is what it has become when we decided we could fix it. And the more we tinker the worse it gets. The U N didn't do it we screwed it up all by ourselves. But hell Lou we can just go over and spend another couple trillion dollars and a few more thousand American lives if your party gains total control in Washington again. And then blame it on the other party. The British basically washed their hands of the whole affair years ago. They only go because we go and that's what friends and allies do. We would be wise to follow them on this one and cleanse our country of this U S caused disaster.rick0427https://www.blogger.com/profile/16896247508408180825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4066062120776667625.post-17762328068532741042015-09-24T11:44:30.911-07:002015-09-24T11:44:30.911-07:00Response to China's island building?
As many ...Response to China's island building?

As many in the US would say, who cares anyway? What difference does it make as it's not here.

At least until it is here.

The reality of life is the middle east has been a quagmire since we began thinking about history. The Israelis feel they have a right to the land they inhabit while the Palestinians feel they have a right to all the land. The US certainly cannot solve it nor can anyone else in the world as no one really cares.

The reality is the UN is a complete joke and needs to be disbanded or moved to a different country. Which was my point of posting the slanted piece.

p.s. We could use the UN property for a super Walmart.

loumanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04882146154150499756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4066062120776667625.post-54561487494148135412015-09-24T11:00:12.571-07:002015-09-24T11:00:12.571-07:00It was a politically motivated piece. Writing a politically one sided piece against a body that you feel is politically motivated is not an antidote.

"Although the McGowan Davis Report also criticized Hamas for violence against Israeli citizens, its net effect amounted to equating Hamas, a lawless, terrorist actor, with Israel, a democratic state with a sound judicial system." Yeah, this totally doesn't have a political bias to it.

though I might be chastised here by a purist for partially agreeing, this guy does have a point, how many allegedly free democracies besides Israel ever get criticized for anything? 18 hijackers on 9/11 came from Saudi Arabia, how many people did we needlessly kill in Iraq for an uneccesary war? Quite a bit more than were killed on 9/11. This is a problem with the UN, they turn a blind eye to a lot of shit that powerful nations do. Had this guy been interested in highlighting the problem with a truly balanced piece, I'd have a lot more agreement with him. Instead, it's just another neocon think piece.

BTW, what negative response do you want to see China receive for their island building and who do you want to deliver it?Max Yasgurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02816449822816423030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4066062120776667625.post-85370682584616581062015-09-24T07:58:37.183-07:002015-09-24T07:58:37.183-07:00How many times has the UNHRC condemned states such...How many times has the UNHRC condemned states such as Iran and Saudi Arabia, which oppress their own citizens -- women and minorities in particular -- and inspire many states to follow them?

The Hamas Charter preaches the politics of hatred and violence against Israel, but Hamas does not spare even its own people, whom it used freely during the war last year as cannon-fodder before the eyes of international television crews.

Russia, which invaded Ukraine with no push-back; and China, which has been building military land-fill islands throughout the South China Sea while encountering no serious negative response

The point is they can condemn one country while ignoring the violations of another.

loumanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04882146154150499756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4066062120776667625.post-20945833636256883092015-09-24T07:10:40.304-07:002015-09-24T07:10:40.304-07:00It's a little interesting that a guy based in ...It's a little interesting that a guy based in a country with well established cultural subjugation of women is wailing about the indignity Israel is facing. It's basically an article that says the entire thing should be disbanded because they criticize Israel. near as I can tell, that is the author's only point.
